Biting/chewing?? I have a 8 week old lil girl and she bites sooo bad (it dont really hurt but well you know) and chews on people. What should I do?? |
This behavior needs to be treated like a felony. When she bites, you immediately say "no", stand up, walk away a few feet and turn your back to her. Completely ignore her for 60 seconds. Then, go back and hold her or whatever you were doing. When she bites, you repeat this again. Within a couple of weeks this behavior should stop. Dogs so hate to be ignored by us. They want to please us. |
Awww, she's so little, she hasn't learned yet. This is a time that she would still be learning bite inhibition from her mother and siblings. What we did at that age was emulate the "YELP" that a sibling would make when bitten too hard. That's how they learn. You can also say "No Bite" and redirect with a toy. Puppies that age need to chew but it's also the time to learn how hard they can bite and what they can bite or chew on. Keep Working and Good Luck! |
