Crying late night in his kennel My dog likes to cry in his kennel to go out side but its mostly at 4:00a.m. so i want to know if there is a way to take him out later like at 7:00 a.m. without him crying Please help --slushy_523phs |
If he is crying then he more than likely has to go potty. So its best to take him out instead of making him hold it for another 3 hours |
How old is he ? |

Lucy always wakes up around 6:30 and starts to cry. She's good about holding it all night.. but when 6:30 comes she cant hold it any longer. I take her outside and she immediatly poos and pees (usually more than once). I think it would be best to just keep taking him outside when he starts to cry since he does seem to need to go potty. If you wait until 7 he'll probably have an accident in his kennel which will not only be an inconvienience for you, but it won't be the best for training. Also, have you tried taking him out right before you put him to bed? it'll definitely help if he isn't going to bed on a full bladder. |
i suggest u take him out. then slowly, if it is more convienient for ou, take him out of his kennel later at night (12am..11pm) so then he will probably hold it in longer at wont wake up at the crak of dawn |
I would try what Rex's mom suggested. Then you could also slowly start having him hold it for short periods like if he wants out at 4:00 each morning wait until 4:15-4:30. Then if/when she starts waiting that long on his own bump it to 4:45-5:00. They eventually adapt to your schedule, it just may take some time. Reagan knows every morning she gets up at 5 and my husband lets her out. Then she lays back down with me in the bed and gets up with me a couple hours later. She also knows about when we goto bed at night and around that time she starts calming down. If he has to go I wouldn't make him hold it for 4 hours, he may not be able to hold it that long. Start out a little at a time. |
