Since she is only 16, I'm sure that she is in school but out for the summer break. May have a summer job but isn't there someone that could baby sit for her when no one's home? I'm sure she isn't the one working from 10pm to 6 am...isn't there laws against minors working those hours?

i just got out of summer school and my mom baby sits milo my parents dont like him to be around the house when im not at the house so when i get home i take him out for a walk let him do his business and play with him until he gets tired. My dog milo is in a lot better care with me than where he was at my sisters house outside everyday with no attention what so ever so im sorry but i think im doing a better job than my sister was because she used to have 4 yorkies and her 2 favorites were the only ones with attention.

My dog wasnt one of my sisters favorites they would brush his hair. When i got him i would brush him everday and i still do because his hair used to be really extremely dull, rough, ugly so i was fixing him up but his hair now is a little less rough i the next step i want to do is to make his hair silky smooth.

After the puppy has eaten and drank, how much time goes by before the puppy goes outside and then how much time goes by before the puppy goes back into the kennel? Sounds like there isn't enough time passing for the water that the little one drank to go thru his system and the need to potty to pass.

ALL that time in the crate is your problem. Yes, dogs tend not to eliminate where they sleep, but could you go 17 hours and only pee once? That is waaay too much time in a crate. I feel bad for the 7 hrs mine stays gated in the kitchen area. You cannot keep a dog crated for that long and scold him for peeing in the cage. Number 1-you cannot scold a dog for peeing in the house unless you CATCH him doing it-you will confuse him. He doesn't understand why you are scolding him because he's already peed. Number 2-he may be dribbling when he sees you (from excitement) because he's locked in a cage for 17 hours. So, he is only out of his crate for 6 1/2 hrs a day? The dog should be with someone who can spend more time with him, and let him out of his cage more than that. I'm not trying to be mean, but that's not fair to him.

I agree that it is a lot of time to spend in a kennel but her schedule is no different than many people here. She is at work/school and the pup is in the kennel. Then when she goes to sleep the pup goes into the kennel. This is just like many people here. Some people just don't have the luxury of staying at home with their pup all day.

I would recommend trying to maybe keep the pup in a bathroom or kitchen and trying to get him to go on pads while you aren't there. This way he will have a little more room to play. My Reagan goes outside but when she's here by herself I leave her gated in the bathroom with a pad, 9 times out of ten she won't even go while I'm gone though, she's getting much better on the housebreaking. You can get a babygate for like 10 bucks at Walmart if you want.

Yes its true that a dog won't go where they sleep but if they have to go and that's the only place to go they are going to. It could be like many others have said that he is excited when you get home. If this is it I've read where some people recommend not talking to the pup right when you come home. Come in and do your thing for like 5 minutes then get your dog out and see him. I don't know if this will work or not but worth a shot. Also with him being outside before he may not have learned how to hold it so well b/c before he could just go whenever. Just give it time and patience and you both will get it.

I'm in the same situation. mine's in his crate at night to sleep, but during the day i have him in a playpen equiped with a peepad, water, a bed, & toys. i come home at lunch and feed him and let him out to potty. he's only gone in his crate once at night. he has gone in his play pen, but it's always on the pee-pad. i would suggest getting a playpen or x-pen so he has a little more freedom during the day. I use nature's miracle pee-pads. they're supposed to be scented like the outdoors to help with house training. if he's used to going outside you shouldn't have any trouble getting him to use these. I think you're doing a good thing bringing the dog in from outside and giving it much needed love and attention.

I think this is much better than keeping the pup locked on a crate for 3/4 of the day, at least in a playpen he can actually move around instead of just laying there bored out of his mind in a crate. All I gotta say is holy sh*t for the poor pup to only be out of the crate for an hour at a time. Just my opinion but I don't think it's right

I agree with you as well. I'm having the same problem w/ my ZIgi. My husband and I go to work during the day, so while we are gone, zigi is in his crate which he also does his deed in. But as soon as we go home we make sure he gets cuddle and play time until its time to go to bed. Any suggestion for me??

Im sorry but thats a long time for him to be in a crate. No wonder he is peeing. He cant hold it for ever.

try to get the xpen and it will work!

My toy poodle stays in a crate while I'm at work. It is small, but as I am gone nine hours he just can't hold it that long. I have a towel in the back, and a piddle pad in the front. He usually goes pee on the pad. They're bladders are so small that it's hard for them to hold it. He did quit pooping in there though! :)
