Second Nature doggie litter? Does anyone use this product? I bought the pan and litter at Petsmart, so far I have been putting his potty pads in the litter box to get him used to going in there, and I plan to put the litter in there in a few weeks and see how it goes. Just wondering if anyone had success with litter training their yorkie... |
my dog is trained to go outside so i do not have any experience with litter training. My concern with using litter is them eating it. |
I tried it but couldnt get mine to use it so I outside trained them |
My dogs both do their business in a litter box (kitty) in their xpen. Unfortunately, that hasn't transferred to any other place. I let them loose in their bedroom a few times and rather than jump in the litter box they go on the floor. I have on sitting in the middle of the living room and they still will go on the floor. Good luck. Mine are 19 months! |
I have tried it but al Bentley wants to do is eat it!!! I think just using the pee pads is better but I do have a friend that it worked fine with. If they do start eating it be careful because it is a paper product and will expand a little when wet. |
my dogs just eats them. so i pee pad trained as welll as going outside train them. |
I tried the second nature with the litter box no luck. I even had a large crate that my lab used to have xx large. I put the litter box in there and put my yorkie in the cage for awhile and she goes on the floor of the cage and lays in the litter box for comfort. or she will play with the litter. Now I put puppy pads in the cage and I take her to the basement put her on the puppy pad in the crate she goes to the bathroom and I take her out right away. sometimes she misses the pad a little but not often. I pick it up right away and we go back upstairs. I dont leave her alone down there. during the day I put puppy pads down in certain spots she always pees on the puppy pads. Sometimes she will go poo in one spot in the house with out the pad but mostly she waits to go down to the basement. Sorry this is long but it really helps us with her because it is very cold here. My lab still knows to use the bathroom outside. He doesnt come upstairs to the bedrooms he stays in the living room or kitchen with us because it is gated off . I will let him roam eventually the yorkie is only 5 months. |
We have the litter box, but we use pads in it and not litter. I think we were just concerned about her eating the litter and she was already used to going on pads. It works great! |
My darling coco uses second nature!!! When i first got her, i put her pet taxi, which is her "kennel/bed" and litter box inside an exercise pen..so the only place she could go potty without ruining her "den" was the box...worked like a charm!!! However, when i let her roam the apartment, she had lots of accidents and gave me tons of headaches...so every 3 hrs, when i knew she had to go potty, i put her in the box, had her sniff her doo doo, and waited and waited until, YAY she peed!!! I praised her and gave her a treat...Now she no longer has accidents and realizes she gets treats for going potty in her box...i also say "go potty" and "good potty" Sometimes she will pretend to go potty in her box to get more treats!! kinda funny!! Oh and for them eating the litter....i spray simple solutions potty training aid on her litter..(it smells like pee to them) so she won't eat it... Good luck!!!! |
