Not Pooping on the Paper Hi everyone. I have read that some people have had this problem but, I just don't know what to do anymore. Lucy is really good at going pee on the pads but, she does not go poop. She always poos on the same spot in the kitchen. How do I get her to use the pads for this. I rarely catch her in the act because she always goes when we are at work or overnight when we are sleeping. So, it is hard to reprimand her and show her the right spot. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks |
Why don't you try moving a pad to where she poops...and give GREAT treats for getting it on there....when she seems to have it down slowly starting moving the pad a tad over (over a couple of days) until it is next to the one where you want her to pee? Finally at 5 months I have Maximus pooing on the pad!! |
This is my problem too and they eat it most of the time as well! I just don't what to do anymore either! |
Oh I am scared now. TJ is just over 5 months and Roxy is almost 8 months. Am I DOOMED.... |
NO!!!...lol, I felt soo hopeless like Maximus would NEVER get it, but he did and now his pee aim has gotten slightly worse..lol..half sliding off the pad..lol, BUT try the meat tenderizer or pinapple with the food to stop the eating!! |
I will deifinatley try it (thanks for posting it in the other thread). I did mean to ask you a little more about it though. The pineapple: fresh or canned and a very small amount or a whole chuck? The meat tenderizer: On their food (how much) or on their poop? Thanks! |
I gave the cubed canned pieces and I gave 1 or 2 pieces...the meat tnderizer I believe yoiu are supposed to put in the food, lol, I was pouring it on the poop BUT he did stop eating it...but I heard that is you put 3 pinches it makes the poop taste nasty..but Maximus didn't want to go near it with the tenderizer on it either..lol, BUT I guess as a preventative so you don't have to be on the lookout every second is give it with his kibble!! Also I heard tobasco sauce on the poop and after trying to eat it a couple of times..they will get the idea!! |
Fosters & Smith sells "Forbid", a powder that you mix in with their food. Kipper used to eat his poop all the time, for months and months it was soooo frustrating! But I tried the forbid and after one week he stopped! Good Luck! |

Thanks again. I have to do something to stop this! Especially when they have this 'mushy soft ice cream' poop. When I catch them licking it up, I want to vomit. And then I don't want kisses which I love... I am going to first try the pinneapples and then go from there. I'll let ya know when I too have 'reformed' poop eaters or as my boyfriend says reformed *#@% lips P.S. I tried the forbid for about a week and it was every other day that they not eat it and then I was told by a firend who works at a Vet office that it doesn't work! I still have some packets. I might give it another chance if the pinneapples or meat tenderizer doesn't work... |
The only problem I see is that you have her runnnig freely around the house. Crate her and train her to go where you want her to go. I have had Katia for 5 1/2 weeks and accidents are a thing of the past. Your dog is not ready to be left out alone all the time. |
I don't let her run around freely in the house when we are not there. She is confined to the kitchen. I think it is just a matter of her not liking to poop where she pees. I'm just going to keep trying to praise her a lot when I do see her got on the papers. Thanks for the advice everyone. |
Not Pooping on the Paper I have the same problem with 4 month old Buffy! She "usually" pees on the pad but won't go near it when she has to poo. I put her on it when I see her pooing and she freaks out and runs away. She prefers more secluded or quite spots. I've put pads down where she likes to poo but if there's a pad in her pooing spot she goes somewhere else. Any suggestions? Maybe I should put newspaper in her pooing spot(s) so she differentiates them from the peeing/pad spots? HELP! |

The pinneaples did not work for TJ and Roxy either. I am going to try the meat tenderizer. I read somewhere to use a No Salt meat tenderizer, has anyone heard of such a thing and what is the brand and where did you get it or see it? Thanks! |
So glad I don't have the issue of eating the poo. UGhghg But, she is just like the others in that she won't poo on her pad. She doesn't even go to one particular place. She has a few favorite rooms. |
My trainer recommends hooking their leash to your belt loop so you cn alway monitor and then you will always catch the potty dance and take them to the right place. it should only take a couple of days of this to work. |
I think it's the pad thing (and I've heard that too). Chloe does the same thing. Also, when she poos outside, she (just started this) goes on the patio. When she goes inside, it's beind the furniture. If she pees inside (very rarely) she goes on paper (like if we leave the newspaper on the floor). Baxter was paper trained by the breeder when I got him and he did the same thing. Instead of this, I crate trained him (well, I kept him in a crate at night and when we were gone) and he doesn't do the same things that Chloe does. Someone had a post on here once talking about pad training and going outside. She mentioned that you shouldn't do both because then you get your dog going poo behind furniture and on rugs (and patios) like Chloe does. She goes outside, but during the day, I keep her in a room with a pad down. |
