Tapping his nose
 
I heard if you tap on their nose & tell them no in a firm voice will help. Zayden is 8weeks do you think its a good time to start doing that? If not please let me know!

I don't think that would work. I think using a firm voice or redirection is better, if you have problems with biting feet, etc, we use change in a coffee can that was recommended a few times on here and it DOES work.

I trained yogi with the tap/no method and i had great success...could i have been nicer, maybe but it worked and he is such a great boy now.

Im currently training roxing with redirection and loud noises and it also seems to be working.

So either way you go you should be ok, then again different yorkies respond differently. if you are doing the tap method and your yorkie becomes a scared little poopy as my wife would say then use the other method

Just my opinion....I don't like tapping on the nose or anywhere else for that matter. I think a FIRM NO is sufficient...at least it always has been with Murfee. Good luck.

I also tap my buddy's little nose. He's only 8 weeks, so it's going "alright". for the most part, he does stop biting for like a second. We just say "no bite".

I agree, but Patty, sometimes that little tiny soft tap is enough to let those little brats know that we are boss. I used the tap no on the mouth for Bandit when he was a biter and mouthing all the time. he does not do it, I said no bite and tapped lightly it worked beautifully and in a very short period. Well with Bijou heavens know if it will work, like no means yes to him:eek: :D , so working on the tap no with him also. Long as the tap is not hard to inflict pain just to shake them up a bit:D

Try the side of the lip works great and not as bad as the nose, I think the nose causes them some discomfort and it is very tender, the side of the mouth worked for me really well and I also said no bite and then he only licked and kissed:thumbup:
