Redirected Aggressive Dog Behavior im having that problem with kayko he attacks brownie everytime there in the window and someone passes usally its just noise tonight i had to pri kayko off him the first thing i did was throw him in the cage cause he was still flipping out in my arms i looked the issue up and this is all i can find but it doesnt say how to fix the problem any ideas would be great thanks im 2 seconds away from putting frost contact paper on my window so they cant see out but ihate to do that to brownie ''Redirected Aggressive Dog Behavior: A common example occurs when two family dogs become excited, bark, and growl in response to another dog passing by outside their place. Hi, I have a similar situation with two of my girls, Chattie and Chizzie. Chattie is very protective/possessive of me. All it takes to set her off is for someone to talk to me while I am at my computer or in the kitchen cooking. What has helped our situation is that I have asked that people alert me before walking up to my computer desk so that I can be ready to act. I have a rolled up newspaper (very skinny section) and I show it to Chattie and say NO! in a very firm voice. If that doesn't work, the and they actually engage in battle, I smack both of them with my limp newspaper roll and the noise usually distracts them enough to get them to listen to my NO!!! Good luck..... it will be interesting to hear from others who also have redirected aggression issues and how they handle them. |
Here is something to try. When Kayko starts to act up tell him to "QUIT IT"(or whatever word you choose). If he doesn't stop, say "QUIT IT" again while squirting Kayko in the face with the water bottle. If he stops, say "Good Boy" and reward him with treats or whatever. Good luck! |
