Potty Training - help please Hi everyone, i am trying to train Twinkle how to relieve herself in a litter box that i got her, I work 8 hours a day and let her roam freely in my room. any suggestions on if i should confine her or let her roam freely? everyday i come home and shes missing her puppy pads, and she's playing in the litter box. help please. thanks. |
I would definitely confine her. There is no other way to make sure she stays safe while you're gone. Ex-pens are a GREAT investment! :) PM me if you have any other questions. |
When we litterbox trained our Pearl, we used the dog litter and were really strickt with her. We tried the cat litter and she thought it was fun to play in so back to the dog litter pellets. I would try confining her, we did that with pearl, we gave her a small area and her litter box, she had food water and toys of course, and she picked up on it quickly, she would even try to cover her 'messes' it was funny! |
I agree the xpen would be wise. A restricted area should definitely help to make it clearer to her where she needs to do her business. Right now, unfortunately, if she is peeing all over your room it makes it that much more likely she will go back to those same spots to pee again and again. Maddening, I know, but dogs really do "follow their noses". Good luck. It sounds like you are headed in the right direction and I hope you see some improvement soon! :) |
Yes a smaller confined area is the best... i keep my little guy confined in half the kitchen area with a litter box lined with pee pads.. he has done great and know is actually starting to go to his place to potty on his own.. my little guy is 4 months old and he is doing awesome.. good luck ... |
