jacks belly band is making me furious!!!! Its not being used as the training tool I intended it to be! :( he's peeing in it regularly!!! Grrrr. And it seems I have to wash it each time he pees in it, which is daily! I even got those maxi pads like everyone told me to and I still smell pee in his belly band. Do you wash yours after each use? It seems like I am. What am I doing wrong?!?! |
Please help guys.....I'm getting so frustrated with this. :( he's three years old!!! He shouldn't still be doing thiss! :( Argghh! ::pulling my hair out::: |

I feel your frustration. I dont' really know what to suggest that would help you there. The only thing I can offer is that it's better to wash that than having pee spots all over the furniture. |

Yes, he's been neutered. And he's not doing this to mark....he's doing it to do a full pee. We'll take him out and he'll do nothing. After a minute of being back in he'll pee!! :( I was told to use a maxi pad so I assumed it was regular size. I guess I'll have to do a super duper sized pad then. He's a little guy so it will look so bulky on him. Oh well. |
Ahhh...sounds very frustrating. I fostered a male that I had to use a belly band with. He marked inside and marked outside. I bought the thick maxi pads with wings from Costco, but I still had to change the pads all the time and I had to wash his belly down all the time. Is there a reason that he pees in the house? Was he always Potty Trained outside? Do you give him a really good treat for doing potty outside? Maybe you have to start back at the basics. I would try not using the Belly Bands anymore, b/c he obviously is using it wrong, and what you are doing is 'training' him that he can do potty in the belly band. |
bands I had on average of 12 bands for 4 males....I used mini pads in them and changed the pad numerous times per day...and each day they got a new band and the old ones were washed...sometimes they coudl use one band for two days..but it is one of those things I expected to wash..a lot! AND...you can make a decent bands out of crew socks and attach with two diaper pins when you run short...good luck |
Well since he is not marking but actually just peeing in the band, I would stop using it. I would go to crate training to get him trained. Take him out of his crate and take him outside. Don't let his feet touch the floor otherwise you are just giving him a chance to pee. Stay outside with him for a maximum of 10 minutes. Any longer than that he will forget what he is really outside for. If he doesn't go bring him back inside and put him in the crate. Take him out again in another 10 minutes. Keep doing this until he finally goes. When he does go outside praise and reward him. And now because he went outside he can run around in the house. This will teach him that he has to go potty outside before he gets the privilege of being allowed to play and run about in the house. |
The belly bands should only be used on trips or for medical reasons. They will never be house trained when you only use these. I'd say forget the belly band while house training and not let the dog have access to all the rooms till house training is completed. Even then, don't let them have run of the house when you are busy and can't watch them. Maybe when they are 2 to 3 years old they can be trusted. Some dogs are trustworthy at a younger age though. |
