Help with licking Can anyone help me with this problem? My one year old yorkie will turn his head when anyone tries to pat him and lick their hands, he just won't stop no matter who it is or how many times they lean down to pat him. My friends will pull their hands back and imediatly look for a towel to wipe their hands, or a place to wash them. Anything I can do to curb this kind of behavior? Any suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks everybody. |
It goes back to basic training. Does he understand the word no, that is where you have to start. Try putting your hand in front of him when he goes to lick pull it away and say no lick, and give him a tiny treat. You will need to repeat several times each time leaving your hand there longer after you say no lick. It's all about consistency and baby steps, it may take a while but eventually he will learn. |
Thanks for the suggestion. Thats what i've been doing, guess it will take a while on an older dog. oo bad there wasn't a remote controll training device for all the things that pop up, lol. Thanks again for the reply. |
