Why does he suddenly have mistakes?? Dear Members, It took me a long and hard time to train Max to go potty on the pad, like 7-8 months, but he finally got it and he did not have any mistakes at all for the last couple of months. Now he is 11 months old. And suddenly starting yesterday he began to have accidents. He first peed on a rug yesterday. And I cleaned with carpet cleaner and scolded him too. But again, today, he peed on the same rug twice and pee on the bathroom floor! He has not done this since he became well trained in March. For past 3 months, he didn't do this. Why is he suddenly peeing everywhere??? Anyone have answers??? |
Has something changed? Did you give him more freedom since you thought he was potty trained? One of the most common mistake in potty training is when a dog finally understand what to do so the owners starts to relay on the training. Sometime it is fine other time a dog will regress and potty all over the place again. Do you think this might be the reason? |
You will have to use a product to completely take the stain and ODOR out of the carpet, or he will continue to use that same area. I don't know why he has gone back to soiling the floor. Has anything changed in your home? Yorkies do not respond well to changes, including moving the furniture around. |
I have always heard that around the age of 10/11 months that puppies tend to go through a rebellion stage...they start to lose their training and really test their limits, we have found this with Magic...I would suggest to start retraining him and let him know that he has to stay within the rules....it seemed to really him with Magic and hopefully it will with you!! I would say just be patient and stay constant with him and he will come around.... |
No, nothing has changed. I dont know what's gotten into him, but if he is going thru that rebellious stage of 10-11 months, I will just have to keep at him. He peed on the rug around the corner of the kitchen where I can't see him, while I am eating dinner downstairs (I think b/c he felt lazy to go upstairs where he is supposed to go while I am eating so that he can quickly come back and begg for food). He loves begging for food while someone eating and he doesn't want to miss the chance. But still, he didn't do this b/f. Nothing 's changed though. I am so worried. I think he peed somewhere else last night too, but I couldn't find where he did it. What do I do?? Just keep my eyes on him every time and follow him around?? |
I would tell you to go through the whole retraining process...do exactly what you did to train him in the first place...thats what we had to do with Magic and it is seeming to work!!! Don't worry, I promise he will come around if you stay constant with him....he is just being a teenager!!! |
Bell is 2 1/2 years old now and still sometimes she is as good as gold and other times she just keeps having accidents. She knows she is doing wrong, becasue the minute she does it she runs and hides. She is being good at the monment, which really isn't saying much, because who knows what tonight will hold. Good luck |
I would start treating him like you did when you were training. Limiting his freedom and starting over. It probably won't take long at all to get him back to his trained state. |
