Why does my pup take forever to poop I am a new yorkier owner he is about 5months now and I keep him in cage when I am gone, now the thing is when I take him outside to do this duty he sniffs around for the longest time then he poops. I always wonder is there somethign he is sniffing for?? I am having a nightmare trying to housebreak him I take him outside and he does it outside also he does inside. I am cage training him basically keep him in cage then take him right out so he can do his duty but I just don't understand why he takes awhile to sniff around then actually goes. Its hard when your up early waiting for him to go and have to run to work!I hope anyone has any better ideas to housebreak him my puppy is soo attached as well. He barks anytime I walk away or close the door on him its like he always wants to stay close by if not he barks and yaps. I hope as he gets older he stops being such a baby and stops barking whenever I leave the area. |
Your baby sounds like he really loves you. I hope you aren't being to hard on him for just wanting to be close to you. All dogs I know have to sniff around before doing their business. It's just the way it is. Is he alone alot? |
i believe that dogs are so much like babies, really!just like a baby would do when he wants mommy's attention your baby is doing the same thing to you.on an average how long does he stay in his kennal? i can't help but think that he is just really missing you and the world. if he takes so long to sniff it's probably because maybe he doesn't go outside as often as he should and he's just enjoying being outside. when i got coco i would take him out atleast evry 1-2 hours. but now that he's trained he sometimes just wants to out, just to go out. so maybe he just really wants to be around you. i can imagine that it's hard to be with him since your at work, but when your home try not to put him in his kennal and be very consistant with your method for training. i hope this helps even a little. my coco was never kennal trained(i could not take seeing him in it :unlove: )instead my hubby trained him to ring a bell to go out. but i know pads are very good too so maybe you can try that out also. include the reward system with your training it really works  |
I away from him for a long time I realize but I just hope he grows out of this and just understand that I am not going anywhere. Thanks for all your help I think I am going to have him be outside alot more so he can get use to it and I just orderded some special door bells for him to signal when he needs to go out. I hope it works out well so he doesnt keep messing up my carpet! :) |
They do a lot of sniffing. That is important to them. However, exercise is necessary for them, too, in order for their body to function properly. |
