Help Lucy a mess when groomed! I haven't posted in a while, been busy with work and life. But now that everything is okay with Lucy, she does not have a liver shunt and was able to be spayed a couple of weeks ago yay! Anyway, my problem is she is horrible to groom. To bathe her I have to literally get into the shower with her because if I try to bathe her in the sink she splashes around and climbs out of the sink and gets water everywhere. I've tried giving her treats in the middle of her bath and rewarding her and praising her and going slowly with it but she just seems to be getting worse the older she gets. Well last time I took her to the groomers, they weren't even able to get her to sit still for them to trim her ears. They asked if she had been to puppy class, which she has and passed with flying colors. I don't know what to do about it. She also shows signs of cage aggression at both the groomers and the vet, but is completely quiet and behaved when we put her in her cage at home. The only thing I can think of is that at the groomer and the vet she sees people walking and talking, and the only time she is in her cage at home is when we are sleeping or at work. Any suggestions, I'm desperate! |
mobil groomer we have a gal thats great. tede will hold still for her if i leave and the house is quiet. at first i got in the bath with him to get use to the water, |
As far as the bath goes, have you tried scruffing her to hold her in place like a cat? That might work and would be painless if you only did it to make her stand still and not pick her up. Ellie wiggles a lot too. She runs in place on the exam table at the vets and does everything in her power to get free. When I groom her though she just lays in my lap usually. Have you tried grooming yourself? |
