The biting stage is really wearing me out :( |
Yeah I know how you feel! How old is your puppy?? Mine is 4 months old and he is starting to understand that biting is bad. We started shaking a can with coins in it when he bites us. He gets startled and runs away. At first I didn't want to do this, but he just wasn't responding when we said "NO!" |
He's 3 months old and so far nothing works. He's just really exciteable. |
Carlos was not so bad when we first got him but now it is starting to get out of control. He is 4.5 months |
What we found with Gus was we would give him a toy he liked to play with and offer him that instead when he wanted to mouth or bite..and if that didn't work we would get up and leave the room or turn our backs to him (Yorkie hate being ignored) Worked for us and he definitely knows what NO means now too!! Time and Patience and they come around!! Good Luck and remember they are just babies...:) |
mine keeps chasing me around. if he has a toy in his mouth, he would keep running up against my feet. if he does not have a toy, he'll nip at my pants or socks... any idea of what to do??? I know he just wants to play... but this is unacceptable behavior... |
Mine too Duke does the same thing too, he'll be 13wks old on Sunday and loves to bite. Saying "NO" doesn't do it anymore, I tried the coins in the bottle method - it worked for a few days, now he wants to play with the bottle. I've just ignored him or picked him up and say "NO" or "stop" while looking at him. Recently, Duke likes to chase around an empty bottle water too, he seems to get all his energy out that way and does not bite me as much. Hopefully he'll grow out of this stage soon. :animal-pa |
what you need to do is get a tin of some sort, and this will be a differnt sound to the bottle, we started the tin training the other night, and it started working, and then we tried it in a glass jar, but that didnt work, so tins are a definate yes! tahnks to whoever suggested that :) |
I'll try that next. I think it's not workign so much because I have loud little boys. No loud noises seem to bother any of my pets ack! |
Give him something that taste better than you, like bully sticks. It may just be he will like a better tasting CHEW TOY!!! lol - lots of luck to everyone. |
You can also try keeping hand lotion or santizer on your hands so they don't taste good at all. |
Mine is 4.5 months old and shows no interest in chew toys. I am constantly telling him no and putting a toy in his mouth. But he would rather chew on our things. The only thing that works for me is taking him on two walks a day to keep him nice and tired. After walks, he doen't want to do anything but sleep for 3-4 hours. Oh well, this to shall pass. |
One thing I have definitely noticed about Yorkie Pups is they will chew on anything and everything. |
He chews on his toys and he has TONS LOL He loves to bite on my slippers, he doesn't even care if they are still attached to me! :) |
My Pikko does the same as all of your pups. It really doesn't help when my brother and sister don't say 'no' to him enough. All my hard work gone to waste. |
