Crying Yorkie My Yorkie cries at bedtime when it is time to go in the crate. How do I break him of this??? Also, he is 3 months old and is already getting a little too "happy" with some of his toys. Will neutering him stop this??? Appreciate your advice!!:) |
Just ignore, do not pet cuddle, or talk! Sounds hard but it just keeps him whining for more....put out the lights and hit the sack. Soon he'll learn. Oh and you could put a blankie with your sent or a stuffy in there with him for comfort. |
aaaah poor Baby wants to crawl in Bed with you and snuggle ;) :D i am shure when you get him neuterd he will slow down being happy with his toys, he is just a baby ! Apollo 1 1/2 (neuterd) and the only times he gets happy with Rosi, when we get ready to go somewhere, then he is exited, but is short lived and Rosi sets him straight:rolleyes: Welcome to YT :D |
You might try placing the crate next to your bed where your baby can see you. They go through this stage because they fear being abandoned, again. After all, baby was just taken away from his birth home. You can also buy a dog bed with a heart beat in it. I can't remember the name off hand, something like Cuddle Pup or Snuggle Pup. As others have said, the best thing is to ignore. When baby is quiet in the crate, praise him. Eventually he will learn that crying gets him nowhere. I have been going through this with Holly. After having her for about 10 days, she rarely ever cries in her crate/ex-pen now. |
Hi, Welcome to yt:) Its normal for them to cry at first, I have crate trained 5 now;) He will adjust after a few nights, I put the crate in my room at first and keep telling him go nite nite, It does take up to a week with some babies, best of luck to you:) Now there crates are in my living area:p yup all 5 in here with me:D they are only crated at bedtime and if I leave for a couple hrs. |
I have a JRT who has slept in his crate every night for the past 8 years, without a peep. When we got Cooper, I was hoping that he would sleep also want to sleep in his crate. The first night he started to cry, so I plugged in a night light and put my hand near the cage. Since then all has been well. He wakes up once a night and I take him to his pee pad. He goes right back to sleep when he is done. In his crate I have a blanket and soft toy that the breeder sent home with him. The first night I also put an article of my clothing. Good Luck! |
