Cody Is Driving Me Friggin Mad!!!!! It doesn't matter if he has a belly band on, diaper on or nothing he still hikes that friggin leg EVERYWHERE!!!!!!! I'm so agrivated can you tell? It's not that he has to go potty he just has to MARK!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I change pads and belly bands all day long! |
Mistake number one,  you do not change his belly band.. the idea is for them to not like being wet, and learning that if I am not wet I do not have to wear this darn rotten thing around my body..try that for awhile, but it takes time..I used them on a boy that was not trained at all at 8 months old, all he did was the same thing, today two years later he goes outside..it took months, I got the wwwl.markout.com ones..I really did not think they would work, but they did..you just throw them in the washer and hang them up to dry...pooh's mum It can be very annoying but just let him not like being wet. he will NOT get it. :D |
is cody neutered yet? |

Sorry to say, but thats what studs do. Hike and pee on everything. Not easy to break that habbit once it starts. |

So how long should he stay in the wet band? and the smell? it's not so much when he's "marking" that he stinks as when he's trying to use the puppy and Gracie, both which have not been in heat. |
Well when you train a child usually the one thing they begin to hate with a diaper is being wet. :( Well with the bands, if you change it everytime he cocks to mark, then you are keeping him happy and content to do it again. Your not training the dog, your keeping your house clean. Usually when a male is cocking he is doing that, mine never stood there having his morning pp... He would cock and not much came out, there is a difference in marking a spot and going for a pp.. so yes if a dog was to pp in his wrap then it would be soaking wet if left on all day. My guy would mark his territory, not going very much, but lifting his leg often. I believe I was trying to express what I did and what worked for me. I thought we were discussing the fact her dog was marking his territory. And further more most people that use belly bands is for training is it not???? they are taking the puppy/dog outside often. Not using them as a diaper. Now that I guess would be a different story. Maybe I am confused and need to go to bed...pooh's mum |

I thought we were talking about training. I'm not using the band as a diaper. Cody goes outside every 1-2 hours even though he's a year old and can hold it. He's just been marking alot lately. I am willing to try just about anything to get him to stop or at least slow down. |

If your dog goes outside, then to me I would think the belly bands are for his marking. That is what they are for, hence they should not get soaked and stinky that needs to be changed every time. I am only trying to tell you what I did. I am sure there are a ton of idea's out there. Go to www.markout.com and have a look at that site, you do not have to buy them from there, but that is how I learned and decided pessimistically that I would try them. Low and behold it took a few months, but I was pleasantly surprised. Hope this helps. |
Here is my 2 pennies I would NEVER leave any animal in a wet belly band that is cruel and will give him an infection. BAD ADVISE !!! Cody is only marking because of a new puppy and will soon stop. Keep doing what your doing and it will all work out. Marking is just part of breeding. This is just my opinion as a fellow breeder.:) :) :animal-pa :animal-pa |
