need ideas to correct a problem Jeter would rather nibble on our hands then play with his chew toy's! I will say a firm "NO" and give him a toy when he starts to do this but he snubs them up. His puppy kong is a bit big for him and he can't get his mouth around it to chew. Any suggestions on a way to brake him from this? |
Have you tried the little rawhide bones? Tessa loves them! I give one to her everytime she tries to chew on my fingers, clothes, table legs or anything else. |
He is a puppy and will soon outgrow hand chewing. All of my pups were finger chewers and I loved it. I would simply move my hand when they nipped too hard. They love the feel and taste of you. |

Have you tried using a spray bottle set on mist? I was at my WITS END with our biting and snapping pup. I tried every humane thing and nothing worked. Then I read that some people use a spray bottle filled with less than 1/8 white vinegar and the rest water. When your pup bites, simply mist him and he should be startled and stop. Also, they dont like the smell of vinegar. Be careful not to spray your pup with the sprayer set to stream, as this could cause injury. We tried this and it was the ONLY thing that worked. I finally have a little guy I can love on! I hope that it works for you, too. There is only one downside - a pup that smells vinegary for awhile! |
I love the vinagar idea. |
Thanks for the suggestions, I got him a few new chew toy's and he likes the one and it works. If he should go back to using our hand as the chew toy, then I think i will try the spray bottle idea, thanks again for the ideas to try. |
