crate training question? Hello all. Well ben is doing great he has been going potty outside and still has to be led to food, also he is not interested in drinking too much water, although yesterday he did ok. just wish he would drink and eat more. anyways sorry about that. I have been putting him in the crate at night and is doing really well. the question i have for you all is how do I separate myself from him so he can be alone in the crate without going too crazy? Like I said he does really good at night but when I put him there during the day and leave the room he starts to cry and bark. thanks in advance. |

Buddy did the same thing. If I were home I would pull his crate to the doorway so he could see through the rest of the condo and see me move around, this helped some. When I left for work and he was in there and crying there was not much I could do. Made sure he had his blankie, toys and treats but left him crying:( When he became trained I allowed him free rein of the condo. Today at almost four he still cries when I leave:confused: |
Well, what I did was have an x-pen, and that seem to help a lot. I put a plastic mat down so if there was a mistake/accident it would be easy to clean in addition there was a pee pad. That helped a lot my dog doesn't bark at all. So she would pee on the pad when she had to go. it was almost naturual instinct. she knew to pee/poo on the pad. |
I set up a playpen for him and he wants to bark as soon as I leave the room. I say "no" really sharply and it seems to work. I just wonder how he does when I leave him to pick up my daughter from school. I hope he can get used to being alone for a little bit. I am only gone for about 15-20 minutes at a time. thanks for all the feedback |
