I can't take it any more We have now has Cozmo for 2 months. The last 3 weeks have been great. Now all of a sudden he is pooping in the house. And then as soon as you take off this belly band he just pees all over. I can't take it any longer. I have cleaned up more poop and pee than I ever did from Deiter as a baby. We did go back to recreat training him again. No potty no play. that is what we did last time, and then we had 3 great weeks now all of sudden he doesn't care and back to the old bad habits from when we first got him. I don't know what to do. I am ready to just throw in the towel. Any advise:( Remember he is a rescue we have had him 2 1/2 mons |
how old is he???? |
Hi Lynda. Didn't you just have him neutered? If so, they do regress some after that surgery. Both of my boyz did for a while but with a little patience things were under control again in no time. |

Cozmo just looks at you like you so, what then will go back over again and do it again weather he has to or not. Then when done he just sits right there and looks at you like yea so what are you going to do :D So now he is back in crate all the time again. That is not far and I fill so bad to leave him in there. I take him for 3 to 4 walks a day (if weather is not bad and cold out) a total of 4 miles a day. He will go outside. Lots of praise, a treat, jumping, excited voice. Then we come in and will play 45 seconds then go poop behind the couch. Now he just went lots outside. I just don't understand :( |
He may not be able to help himself. I remember Jo just standing there or walking across the room and peeing like he didn't even realize it. There must be added pressure or the area is super sensitive until they're totally healed. Please try to have a little more patience and give him a chance...honestly...he probably can't help it right now. Do you have a playpen you can put him in instead of a crate? We used the plastic puppy pen for a while with Jo. I really don't think you're dealing with a training issue right now. Did you call your vet and ask their advice? I know your patience is low but please don't give up on him yet. |
Oh, you sound so frustrated. I only have girls, so I will be no help. Just wanna say hang in there!!! |
Just keep with it. Be consistent. He'll learn. Good luck! |
Just watch this video about Falcor and you will feel better about YOUR training.:D |
Oh that video is too funny, sometimes that is how it is...:D |

Sorry I don't have boys either, but I think there is hope he just got neutered right? so I heard that ussually set them back in the training:( |
You say he goes alot when he is outside...does it seem like he goes more than normal? Maybe he is reacting to the food he is eating?? He definetly gets plenty of walks...why he goes so much is what I wonder..mine go #2 a couple times a day and thats it...what is he eating?? Dawn |

You need to be consistent and persistent. It'll happen, it just takes time. Especially with an older dog, he's already learnt one way but now you have to change it. Keep your chin up, it'll happen! |
Don't be discouraged. He's still young, and I think with the crate training he'll get it again. |
You have gotten some great advice...I know it is soooo frustrating...But it does get better....THink of it as 2 steps forward and one step back....THe beutering is great but it takes a bit to get hteir system straight.... You might check the food they eat...Maybe there are a lot of fillers in it that makes him go all the time??? SOmething to think about... Joyce |
