poopy in the house Bella is now six months. She is completely pee trained to go outdoors. However, after we come back in she is having poopy accidents in the house. She seems to be going in the same general areas under a table. Why is she not associating outdoors and pooping? I leave her out on a rope and then she comes in and goes? She never barks or goes to the door. I am tired of picking up the poop! She is doing this every day. Michele |
I went through this same thing with Ahia. she would go to the door and want out but as soon as we come back in she would poop on the floor. she is really good now. take note what time of the day that her accidents happen. take her out around that same time every day. (might be a few times each day). Ahia takes for ever to do her thing. But she eventually does it and we come back in and get a treat. My 2 have the a set time that they go poop. It is like clock work. and they are both different. hope this helps you. |
I too went thru the same thing with Sully at about that age. But now he is 10mo and we only had a short string of accidents at about 6-7 mo. but none since! None! It's great! I think when they're learning to "hold it" ...it takes them longer to realize that when they feel they need to poop, they don't have to squat and do it RIGHT THEN. I noticed that w/ Sully b/c even if he'd just been out, he'd poop whenever he felt that he had to, and couldn't wait, but now he can. So there's hope! My best advice is to be consistent about letting your dog know that it's NOT ok for them to go in the house, and be patient. As long as your dog knows it's not acceptable, she will work harder to please you next time. And one day you'll hopefully find yourself with a 100% housebroken dog, yay! :) |
Valerie, HELP ME. How did you do it? I have no clue as to even start this process. Both of mine are 1% potty trained, meaning when I open the door, they go outside and pee. They hold the crap for indoors though. I am sick of picking up tootsies. BUT don't know how to go about it really. Lexi is 14 months and Bentley is 5 months. Yep, they rule the roost. We actually bought a 200 dollar steam cleaner and just gave up with Lexi, but really because I don't know what to do. I can't be mad at her because they aren't born knowing where to go. PLEASE HELP!!!! I ENVY YOU!!!!! |
Have the carpet cleaned to remove the scent. She put that scent there, so she waits until she can come inside. If you know about what time she will need to poop, then go outside with her, while she is on a leash. Tell her over and over, the word you use for poop. I use a retractable leash, so Maggie can have a little privacy. When I see Maggie get into poop position, I give her a little slack on her leash. As soon as your baby starts pooping, praise her --but not too loud--you don't want to scare the poop out of her. When she is finished, take her inside for a Poop treat. She will soon associate treat and poop. Sometimes I'm in a hurry for an appoinment, but I know when Maggie's poop times are. I can have Maggie potty anywhere from an hour early or later than her regular time, just on word command. She is 4 months old and completely house trained. |
wow I am thankful for your advice. I do notice she goes about the same time each day in the house. I just wish she would do it while we were outside. I guess I will go back to the leash instead of the tie out. I do praise and reward her when she gets it right. I wonder if she is angry because I took her with me all the time in the spring because I don't work. Now it is hot and we swim everyday at a pool and she is caged. Maybe she is acting out. :dog: Michele |

water? I know Bella is scared of the bath stationary tub? I never thought of putting her in the pool. I will have to try it. The days she is caged she has so much crazy energy! I will try gating off an area to play. I think she has too much area to move about in the house (3 floors) and needs to be restricted. Last night I took her out and after we came in she pooped on my newly scrubbed carpets. I take her and walk her daily and tie her out too. |
