I'd start at step one. Get a new vet. Next pen her into a small area such as the kitchen or bathroom with some wee wee pads, and let her cry.. She probably knows you'll let her out if she keeps it up long enough.

:eek: o.m.g what a shame for the poor baby. sounds like everyone has given up on her. what a terrible thing for even the vet to say. yorkies are the most loving clever animals ever. maybe because she hasnt been trained properly and like someone else said might have came from a mill. i know it must be very hard but it sounds like she hasnt had best of starts if she came from a mill and now shes getting called stupid and has a bark collar. i cannot even bear to think how misreble that poor baby must be.:( :( :(

I couldn't agree more Chachi! This thread really upset me. That poor little girl! Puppies take SO much time and attention and with proper training, she could be an amazing little pet. I'd get rid of the bark collar and the negative attitude you have towards her. Remember, babies don't come potty trained...neither do puppies. All she wants is a little attention. My Marty whined all night the first few nights he was in his crate, but he was just fine after that and now sleeps in our bed. I have no problems with his housetraining, barking, or any other negative behaviors. You should seriously consider rehoming her to someone who has the time and patience to train her and give her all of the things a puppy deserves.

stop using the bark collar, its cruel. but i can help you out with the potty training. my dog is doing the same thing, but not as extreme, when you take her out in the morning , or any time she usually goes to the bathroom during the day ,tie her to a short leash and put mats anywhere she can reach. when she goes to the bathroom praise her , give her a treat, and untie her. when she goes somewhere she's not supposed to go, scold her and put her in her cage. do this repeatedly enough and eventually she'll think ' okay, I'm supposed to go on the mat, not the floor,' soon your problems will be over. but please, PLEASE don't give up on the poor baby. it isn't right.

I am not saying she IS stupid, I am asking if it is possible for a dog to be untrainable. I have a neighbor that got her sister and she got rid of her after just a few months because she was not able to get her to go potty outside at ALL. Do you think she will EVER learn? She will be a year old on the 25th and it is still like having a brand new puppy with the way she behaves.

She barked the WHOLE night last night. My husband has to get a full night of rest because he works 13 hour days. He woke up screaming at me AND the dog for him not being able to sleep all night. I eventually let her out of the laundry room and she tore stuff up and peed and pooped everywhere. This is an EVERY night ordeal. I put puppy pads down and she will occasionally use them, but she usually just uses the bathroom wherever she pleases. I have tried diapers and she just gets them off even with the panties over them. I spend HALF of my day cleaning up pee. Maybe she has a bladder control problem???

I really don't know what to do. I need some encouragement here because I don't want to give up on her, but I also don't want her to be this way forever and ruin everything in my home, including my marriage. Does it sound like maybe she needs a home where she can be an outdoor dog? She is not a small yorkie, she weighs 10 pounds, so I think outdoors could be an option for her. Any help would be great.

Yorkies have hair not fur so even large ones cant be kept outside all the time. Is there a room you can confine her in that your Husband wont hear her bark. She will bark as long as she knows you will let her out if she does so. She needs to be confined and if she uses the pad at all maybe thats the way you should train her.

First, your dog is obviously not untrainable because her behavior IS how you have inadvertently trained her to act.

Second, a Yorkie can never be an outdoor dog. They are very sensitive to temperatures. If the outside heat or cold would kill you, it will kill them.

Your vet said she is mentally retarded and stupid because she was CKC? That really doesn't sound like something a vet would say.

I just finished reading your other posts regarding this same issue and I can see that you are very frustrated. Unfortunately, I think that using the bark collar has probably made your problem worse. Since you don't want to rehome her, I think your only other option is to hire a trainer who will help her to unlearn these bad behaviors.

And regarding the dirty diapers, it's a dog's instinct. You should put them somewhere or into something that she can't get into.

The laundry room is the farthest room away from our room and he can hear her even with the doors closed. I can pretty much ignore it because I am a heavier sleeper then he is. I have suggested that he needs to take sleep aids but he won't do that :-P Also, when I put her in the laundry room, she pees right next to the washer so that runs all up underneath.

I have heard that puppy pads will keep them from going outside at all and I don't want that. I want her to be like my other yorkie and go outside where she is meant to go. It seems as if she would be catching on a little sooner by following his lead.

Even when I took her and had her boarded while I went on vacation, the trainer had problems had trouble getting her to go outside. She would always pee on her bed.

Yes, my vet said the reason my other dog is smarter than her is because he is AKC and she is CKC. He said CKC dogs are not purebred and they can have anything in their bloodline. Everyone that I have told that has been shocked that my vet would say that too.

I just don't understand because I don't see many people on here having these problems with a puppy this old.

I sincerly think its your vet that is stupid . Registration have nothing to do with it . Does he obtain his diploma in a crackerjack box ?

I let her have roam of the upstairs last night so we could sleep...

The end results were 7 spots of pee and 5 piles of poo. I just don't think EXCESS is NORMAL.

I am sorry for your problems and feel awful for her.First thing no collar any more STOP using it.
Keep her in an x-pen with pee pads and take her out on a regular basis every day same time.
Get her into obediance classes or take her to a trainer.
Spend time with her grooming teaching tricks and just lap sitting.
Her behavioral issues sound like she did not come from a good place.But it can be broken with lots of TIME and PATIENCE on your part.
Do you have a place too keep the x-pen that is not on carpet,cleaning up a floor that is not carpet will make you feel a bit better to just wipe it up and then sanitize, will not be such a big job every time for you?
Keep her bedding very clean also so she learns to like it and will not pee and poop where she sleeps.I wash dog bedding ALL the time.
Have you tried to let her sleep with you? Maybe she will be quiet and not have to go potty all night long.
Makes me wonder if she is nervous also being she has to go potty so much at night?
Has she been checked for bladder infection and parasites?
Time and patience and consistancy should start to change her habits.If all fails and you cannot handle it anymore rehome her.
