I can see why..... Layla's previous owners couldn't keep her! She is so sweet, but sooooooo out of control! We just had a ten minute battle! She got in the house and wouldn't go out and I am not strong enough to hold her out while I shut the door! (for those of you who don't know, Layla is a 65 lb. lab.) Meanwhile, Cinder, our older Lab, is so smart she got the rope toy and was teasing Layla with it to get her away from the door so I could get back in! The instant I was back inside, Cinder dropped the rope and went about her business! I swear she knew she was helping me train Layla! I'll be glad when our friend Larry has Layla for 2 weeks training her. Hopefully he can get through to her! She is just as sweet as she can be, and I love her, but she HAS to learn some manners!! Any suggestions would be most welcome. |

I would say, "Give Cinder An Extra Treat" for helping. |
LOL...good luck..I am just glad that at least your trainer friend can step in and hopefully Layla's true colors will come out and she will be a little lady :) |
How old is she and how long have u had her? |
Cinder is such a good dog and wants to help train her little sister Layla. :) |
I think with any dog training is key. I know you haven't always had her so it will be nice and probably needed to have outside help with training. But I have much faith in labs and I'm sure she'll come around. I have a lab now(around 80 lbs but should be around 70-75) but he was MY first dog. We had had dogs before but he was MINE. I got him 5 years ago when I was in college and living with my parents and he knows someone how that he's mine. He will follow me around everywhere and stay within 5-10 feet of me. He doesn't do this at all to my husband which he's been around for pretty much all of his life(4 1/2 years). We take him down to the in-laws and walk around their 100 acres and although there he will stray a little bit he always comes when called. He hasn't had any formal training just kind of what little I taught him and he's truely the best behaved out of our 4 dogs. I think labs are just very loyal dogs and once yours gets to that point, calms down just a bit, realizes this new house comes with new rules she's going to have to obey, she'll be great. Can you tell I'm one of the many fans of labs? Anyway good luck. |

Labs You're gonna have your hands full for a few more months. I have 2 labs and a lab mix and every one of them was a very bad puppy. I really think it's because they're soooo smart, they know what they're supposed to do but what fun is that? I think things will get easier once she reaches 18 mos. all of mine were totally different dogs as soon as they reached that age. Don't know why, but I almsot couldn't stand them until then. |
