Look what I made from scraps! 1 Attachment(s) I have scraps of fleece left over from projects I do, so I decided to make fleece balls! |
OMGosh! That's awsome! You are so creative! A Tutorial? I would love to make some of those mine would love that to play with! Kim |
I will post some pics of how I did it later today. You start with 3 pieces of fleece. 20" long and 4 and 1/2" wide. It looks best if the fleece is different colors. |
nice job! Here is what I found last week.http://familycrafts.about.com/od/nos...ecepomball.htm |
Mine is alot easier I think. You just cut it like you are making a fleece blanket (fringe) and roll it up. You have to trim the pieces down first tho, or it wont make a ball. It will make a flat thing. I will take a pic. |
That does sound easier, I was wondering why your strips were so wide. Did you see the thread I started about the other ball? |

4 Attachment(s) First take 3 pieces of fleece (it looks best if the fleece is 3 diff colors.) cut the 20' X 4"and1/2" In pic 1 cut the pieces at an angle from 4 and 1/2 down to 2 and 1/2 at the other end (wider at one end down to narrow at the other end) In pic 2 cut fringe all the way down one side. when you cut the other side, the fringe is "offset". (dont line up the fringe on the other side) You cut between the cuts from the first side. In pic 3 start to roll up your ball. Start with the wide end and roll toward the small end. Very important to start with the big end! Pic 4 is what you end up with. Take a piece of 1/8" ribbon. tie it around the ball and pull really tight. It has to be super tight to give the ball its shape and keep your baby from unraveling the ball. Tie in a double knot, and trim the ends of your ribbon. TA DA! |
That is 20 INCHES by 4 and a half inches not 20 feet. OOOps! HAHA |
When God was handing out talent I was in the food line. Those are really cute! |
Show me your balls! I mean if you make a ball be sure to post a pic to show it off! Tee Hee!:D |

Very creative! I have some fleece stashed somewhere in my closet...I'll try making one! |
I dont know if I was clear in the directions. You have to stack the 3 pieces together and cut them at the same time. If you try to cut them separately and then stack them, you get a twisted stretched out mess. Good luck! |
That's great and it's made in America. Cute GE idea. |
These are so cute! ZoeyBear sent two to Gizmo. :) Here's the thread about it. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=96622 |
if you use more strips or longer strips will it become fuller? |

That is an awesome idea! I am going to try to make some as soon as I find some free time! I have extra fleece, and was wondering what to do with it! :) Thanks for sharing the idea!! |
Ooh what a cool idea - they look like alot of fun! |
Cute idea. I had been thinking about making something out of the fleece scaps. Actually I was going to try a braided tug toy - I saw something along that line when I was searching for toys made in America. Thanks for the directions for the balls. In the past, I have found fleece scraps made great toys for the cats. - of course for them the longer the better. |
Too cool - very creative :) |
those are really cute. i made somethin out of my scraps but i took 3 pieces about 2 foot long maybe more, and braided them and knotted them 5" from the ends, they love those. they whip them all over the place and play tug of war with them lol Ill try makin a ball next time i have extra fleece :) thanks for the idea :) |
That's one made in China toy that doesn't get bought! YEA!!! :D Even though mine won't play with toys, I'm going to make some just to give to people I know with small dogs. :D |
