Beenies India is absolutely in love with her little beanie bunny, smaller than a beanie baby. it's soft, but has a little bit of a "chew" factor. She flips it all around and literally throws it across the room. It's also machine washable...not sure what we'll do if it ever gets lost or chewed on for good! |

I had to chuckle at people talking about "terrors" as you can see by my signature. People forget that these little ones are terriers and were breed to kill varmits. I keep a big bin by the back door in the family room and my house and the backyard looks like a playschool for 2 year olds. The bin is emptied everyday. It is hysterical to see Moose jump into the bin and then start throwing the toys out for the gang. Every evening I have to go and pick up at least 15 toys that they took outside. I order alot of my toys from petedge (bulk) because my gang loves to kill whatever toy they have. I used to get expensive ones that made funny noises but they would rip them up faster than you could turn around. The one thing I have learned not to do (the hard way) is put my purse on the floor. One day while I was in the shower someone (I think I know but he had a pretty good lawyer-but I told him it would all come out in the end) got into my wallet and they pulled out $200.00 in cash and just shredded it. The bank said the pieces were to small to give me new bills....but if I was not stupid enough then, I did it again and this time I only lost $60.00. I sometimes think I should have framed their poop (I told him it would come out in the end :p ) as it was worth alot of $$$$. |
We've had our baby for 4 weeks - she's 3 1/2 months old now. She has squeaky toys, balls, and rope pulls, but 2 things seem to be her favorites. A "lambchop" looking squeaky toy from PetSmart - almost as big as she is and I think she plays at being the alpha with it. I found some yorkie sized balls at WalMart in the kids toy section (super bouncers) and she absolutely adored them - - but I quickly realized that she could break pieces off and start trying to eat them. My husband brought home a 12 pack of practice golf balls - not with holes in them - solid outside but hollow in the middle. She can pick them up in her mouth. She is having so much fun with them I laugh all the time. She plays on the tile floor or on the patio and I'm thinking of signing her up for the Yorkie Soccer Team! She tosses her head and throws the ball and also bats it around with her paws. Keeps her (and us) entertained for 45 minutes at a time. Enjoy your baby! |
Susan LOVES hair scrunchies, especially the big ones made out of that material that's like long johns. She'll toss one for hours. I guess she likes it because it's soft and sort of stretchy so it seems to have a little life to it and she can shake it and toss it to "death." So far she's only had the one and hasn't torn it up yet. I keep watching because I want to take it away from her when the elastic inside is exposed because I don't want her to eat that. But so far, so good. |
Both of mine love the rope. They can't live without the rope. |
Toys My two love whatever the other has. They fight over toys every night. It's usually our yorkie, Jasmine who starts it with our Westie, Duffy. She always wants what he has. They end up playing tug of war. He is SOOO much bigger that she is. He could take the toy away in a heartbeat if he really wanted too, but they love to play keep away or tug of war, so the fight is on. She ends up getting mad and biting him, but he never gets mad at her. He is so good to her. He is approx 18 lbs and she is about 2 1/2 and she will get so mad and jump on him and bite him, but he never ever bites her back. He will usually just run if she gets too mad. I guess he loves her as much as the rest of us do. As far as toys: He loves empty water bottles too. He can make so much noise with them. He loves my granddaughters Barbies. (Eats the feet off) and some of them are headless now. He also has one of her old big baby dolls he plays with. He loves to play ball with a tennis ball. He brings it to me and I throw it straight at him really fast and he can catch it in his mouth. It's amazing. Last night he missed and it hit him and bounced on the couch. He didn't see where it went and was looking all over for it. I said "It's on the couch" He immediately jumped on the couch and got it. How's that for smart. And some people say dogs don't understand what we say to them. Jasmine likes small stuffed animals. Mcdonald toys. (they both chew on them) Mostly anything Duffy has looks like so much fun. I go to the kids toy section a lot as their stuffed animals and things are much cheaper than the pet section. I also bought mine some rubber fish that squeak. I think they are really bath toys for kids and they love them. THey are really thick rubber so they can't chew them up. They were 3 colorful fish for $1.00 at General Dollar Store. I bought her a small ball but she never plays with it. He loves to play ball. She won't fetch like he will. One of them got on the end table in the family room and got one of my expensive silver hoop earrings off the table and chewed it all up. I'm glad they didn't swallow it as it could have hurt them. I never lay them there, but it only took once. |
Our dogs have quite a few toys! Alot of toys which have long parts on them so they can do that trademark "Vicious head shake" that yorkies do to shake up and stun their toys. It just makes my neck hurt to watch them do that. :p But the problem is our 6 year old daughter (who is Autistic) like to steal the dogs toys and put them in her own piles of toys. But the dogs are smart and go in and steal them back whenever they want. :D |
missing toy idea! Quote:
No one recommended my Chloe's favoite toy! It's a winner I promise. Go to the cat section and get the little cat sponge balls-not the ones with the feather in them. Chloe was so tiny 810 grams at 4 months old, I had a terrible time finding doggie-puppy toys for her. Cat toys are perfectly sized but not the catnip filled ones ok... Chloe is now 3 lbs. and still loves playing best with her cat sponge ball- they are soft & squishy, she either pushes them with her nose, leaps out after them OR holds them in her front teeth and bats them with her paw. She plays "Go get it" our word for fetch with it as well. It is easy for her to hold, throw, fetch or roll. It is the one toy (she has about a dozen of these) that she never tires of. The only problem is they get lost very easily, which explains why we have a dozen. PetsSupplyPlus $.59 each - for athletic yorkies, they have soccer printed or basketball printed ones as well! :) She has them all.... and about 50 other toys hardly played with! :aimeeyork |

We make sure that we have a couple Nylabones in each room for Missy. Not the "edible" ones. The HARD ones used for teething puppies. Missy is teething now - we bought more Nylabones today in hopes that she won't be chewing on any furniture, cupboards or baseboards! We're trying to keep her well supplied! |
Hi Elbow and all other Yorkie-lovers. Have been reading your mail abt toys and stuff, and had a good laugh. These Yorkies are sooo funny, it seems that all display the same playful disposition. My Oscar has 2 plastic containers full of toys, most of them are homemade, but almost all of them look VERY used and rugged. I am (was) a collector of Teddybears before Oscar joined us... I did not know that they ALL represented a challange to him. He was'nt that old when he mastered to jump up on chairs, beds, sofas, you name it, and I had to remove all my teddies. There are by now approx. 30 pcs without filling, limps missing and totally devoid of their characteristics. Some were collectables. I had to learn to get my priorities straight. Oscar in, teddies out. The "roadkills" are still around and he likes to play with them once in a while, especially when we play "pull that rug". Now, Oscar has a very peculiar way of showing what he treasures the most, by fooling around at first and then carrying the toy out into our yard where he spends at least 5-8mins to find a secure place to dig it into the dirt, or snow, or pile of leaves, whatever the season. He carfully covers the toy and makes sure that I havn't seen him doing it, because if he sees me watching him, he digs it up again and searches for an even better place to hide it at. There can pass a few hours or even days before he feels like digging it up again........... which means that he comes running with his trophy into the livingroom and placing it right onto our creme-coloured wall to wall carpet. Most of the time it's full of dirt and/or leafs. It was'nt funny at first, but as I mentioned earlier, I did eventually get my priorities straight. He's after all my sunshine and makes me smile almost all of the time. He also loves to undo wrapped parcels. Everyday at teatime I put some goodies into a TP roll and close the ends. This is a ritual he nowadays expects at noontime, if not he lets me know. His big beautiful eyes speak volumes... you have to be dumb not to get the message. It all serves a pupose, while he is busy unpacking the roll, we can have tea and cookies to ourselves, without him begging and pestering us. Now if you all believe that Oscar is spoiled, well, take a good look at your own cute litle pet, aren't thay all spoiled in a way?? WE LOVE THEM and they know it. Also they are soooo extremly smart, they learn very early on how to manipulate you. (I don't mind, to tell you the truth!) Enough for now, see you around, would be fun to get some feedback. Oscar, the king of floppy-eared Yorkies of Sweden |

New Toys for Chloe! OK Everyone, Thanks to Ine & Oscar, Chloe will have her first Toilet paper goodie tonight :D And Ginergirl's Mom, I will also use your sock idea, I already know Chloe well enough to know she will love both ideas THANKS :aimeeyork And by the way Ines & Oscar, Your Teddies weren't destroyed, just renamed to: Best Loved Teddies: We have them too now :) |
Joke time: How many pieces can you make out of one toilet paper roll? 1,098,487.... She's chewed the toilet paper roll like she does tissues! She had fun but I'm not so sure I am up to picking up all those pieces everyday, (I used a rake) Well for Chloe maybe I'll do it once a week :D As far as the sock thing, that is way too funny, she was trying to put her whole head into the sock to get to the treat. Somehow I thought she would hold it in her teeth and shake it like she does to her Teddy Pig. Ok watching this is so much better then a movie :aimeeyork |
Give them a toilet roll to tear up and it keeps 'em entertained for hours! |
