Illy will go get whatever I threw and come back in my direction, but then she will just keep on going past me. It makes me laugh. Then she will lay down and chew on it. Then she will finally bring it to me and we fight for it. Fetch is a big process for us, but it's still fun. :D |
mine LOVEEESSS to play with his balls, he will push it with his nose so we can throw it, and he alwways bring us the balls to play with, its too cute sometimes :) mine could play with there balls and toys ALL day LOL |
Dezi will put up a fight to give it to me. If she sees I have a treat in my hands, she will give it up. |
Kitty loves to play fetch. When she brings it back to me I tell her to "drop it" then I pet her before I pick the ball up. She get rewarded for giving me the ball that way with pets. Then I throw the ball for her and we go through it all again. :) |
Pippa brings it back and drops it at my feet, if i dont pick it up she will pick it back up and put in my lap :D |
Tucker will go get a toy and drop it at his feet. If you don't pick it up he does, and then moves closer to you and drops it again. Finally if I pick it up he takes off after it when I throw it and brings it right back. If he doesn't give it up right away I'll put my fingers in his mouth, on the side and he immediately opens his mouth and the toy falls out. If i ignore him when he comes back then he does the pick it up and drop it game until I pick it up. |
They are just so much fun aren't they? It was interesting to see the different ways they like to play fetch. I guess some are just a little more stingy than others when it comes to letting you have the toy back...Oscar wants more than anything for us to throw the toy for him, but he hates like the dickens to give it back to you! Funny boy!!! |
Actually, I'm not so sure it's that they don't want to give up the toy, as it is THEY ARE TEASING US!! Abbie has these tiny, just-her-size plush squeeky toys. If I name them as I give them to her, she remembers, and can from then on fetch it from allllllllllllllll the other toys strewn around the house! I'll say: "Go get kitty cat! Where's that kitty cat?" And, she's off like a shot to find what is really a dog, but I misnamed it when handing it to her, so it is henceforth: "Kitty Cat" (hey, whatever works). She fetches it to me, and will touch my hand with the toy, and then withdraw before I can take it! When finally I get my hands on it and throw it for her, she runs back to me and employs all sorts of evasive maneuvers to keep me from getting hold of her! Yes, they're adorable. |
That is soo funny reading all of these about how they fetch but won't give the ball up. Lucy is the EXACT same way!! It is truly funny, maybe it is genetic a trait of the Yorkshire Terrier..haha LOL. |
