Speaking of Kongs, our Walmart has the coolest Kong balls with bumps on them and you can stuff treats in them. I use Newmans Own Chicken treats. Walmart also sells a bone the has bumps and a place to put treats. These toys are red and dogs love them. My JoJo cannot chew them up so try these! Great indestructible toys.! |

I buy Newman's own dog treats. Very healthy and natural stuff in them. Put one of those in there. Your dog will love it. |
I use p/butter with crushed up cheerios and then I freeze it bc it takes them longer. |

I use Newmans Own Dog Treats and will stuff one of those in there for JoJo. Do not use the Kong stuffing . Bless you for reading the label with the ingredients in it. I wonder about these things, do manufacturers think we are all stupid? We want Healthy food for our Yorkies! Read the labels and choose wisely. |
I have been filling Bentley's kong with plain nonfat yogurt and freezing it, but am wondering if giving him cow's milk is bad for him, then shouldn't yogurt be bad for him too? |
I am new to the Yorkie world and feeling lost on how to be good mom to my babies and reading this forum has helped me getn ideas about what they could eat and snack on and play with. Thank you :) |
This is a great post! I am always looking for snacks I can give to my Yorkie but I am new to owning a Yorkie so I wasnt sure what was healthy for them! Now I know and am putting the list on my fridge.:) |
I know Gus Gus loves having banana & organic peanut Butter in his Kong. Also, strawberries and bananas blended together and frozen. |
I finally found a treat my Yorkie loves. Besides pieces of our home cooked, healthy foods, I discovered the real meat, jerky bites made by the "Wellness" dog food company. I also use their canned & their dry kibble mixed together for our Yorkie's daily food. Taffy loves their real "meat jerky pieces" above all other treats! Now, they are not cheap since they are real Salmon & Turkey or Venison & Chicken, but they can be easily broken into halves or small quarter pieces, just right for Yorkies. We did try a Kong, but he would only lick off the most easily lickable food area, then ignored the Kong completely. It also left sticky food smears on the floor, so we could only use the Kong in the basement play pen. He would not chew on the Kong either; he opted for dried chicken strips or dried lamb or beef jerky; I found some of these made by real USA dog companies, they were carried by a local Farm Produce Store--I do not buy dog treats or chews made in China or Korea as their sanitation methods are not what I would want for my dog's products. |
I've done canned food, plain organic yogurt, peanut butter, pumpkin, kibble, and treats. The thing they love and I've been doing for a couple months is: a Zukes cookie, some doggie pumpkin yogurt, sojos (rehydrated), and topped with a little piece of dehydrated sweet potato. I do freeze them too, otherwise they would have them cleaned out in less than a minute :) |
I mix some natural unsweetened applesause with peaut butter and freeze - maggie may loves it! She also loves pumpkin |
