New clothes So I have been buying clothes for my furbaby and it is getting expensive! I started buying some baby clothes and fixing them to fit and I also had build a bear clothes that seemed to fit fine. I am thinking about starting to make her clothes but I don't like much of the patterns they offer at the store, can anyone help me? |
There are many places that sell reasonably priced clothing... even the dollar store!! :) |
Dressing our dogs  Yes I agree that the dog clothes can become really expensive, but I do love to dress my Yorkie:aimeeyork and once I have bought quite a few clothes for him, I can sit back and say that it for a while, and get the enjoyment out of dressing him. I did get a comment the other day though when I was out walking him I said Hello to a lady with a little poodle and she said (Why do you dress your dog) that made me think what should I have said to her?:( Thinking Leone:animal-pa |
I'd say she is spoiled and I love my baby. |
I found Teddy bear clothes at micheals craft store that fit my girl! Ross has lots of shirts for $3.99 too! It's addicting!! |
Ross has cheap dog clothes. Ive found things there from petco only less then half the price. |
Clothes HI MY HUSBAND WOULD NOT LET ME BUY ANY CLOTHES FOR MY BABAIES HE SAYS THAT ITS A WAIST OF MONEY.:( SO MY BABIES ARE NAKED:aimeeyork |

I buy some expensive and some not. sometimes I just like to bargin shop. I have found sweaters for 3.00 and I have paid 20.00. I try to limit myself on how much I spend monthly on pet items: Clothes. bows, toys, treats, shampoos, and the necessities! I am having a blast bc this is my baby now that all my children are grown and out of the house.;) |
I've paid as little as $1 and as much as $8. Target's dollar section has shirts a lot for between $1 and 2.50 - and there are always adorable shirts/dresses at Walmart. After the season's are over, if you take some of the stuff to the scanners, they come up between $1 and $5. I also watch for clearance stuff at Petsmart. My husband was dead against clothes before we got Morgan - now he loves seeing the outfits I bring home for her and thinks she's adorable in them. |
My feelings are the same as yours  I am really thrilled to see that someone is thinking the same way as I am, our children have left home years ago, and now Yorkie is our baby, sometimes our son says but mum it's just a dog, but we see it as our baby, and yes he is really very spoilt, we even take him to the shops with us, and to most of the places we go, he goes with us.:) Would love to have you as one of my Yorkie contacts. Zoey is so long that she doesn't fit in the bear clothes at Michael's. My Target very rarely has dog clothes but when they do I snatch them up! My mom is teaching me to sew. Does anyone know where I can find patterns online? |
If you google free dog clothes or dog dress sewing patterns there are a lot of sites that have them. Better homes and garden has a nice dress pattern on their site. |
I think clothes for small dogs are 1/3 luxury and 2/3's necessity...their small single hair coated bodies need the extra warmth and blockage from the sun, etc. One of my Yorkies just loves wearing clothes & bows; the other ...she's a tomboy and clothes are such a bother. I think the clothes should be foremost comfortable for the dog and the style/cost should be whatever one can afford and enjoy. If the dog likes you to dress it up and take it out, then one should...their lives and yours are too short not to have a little fun. I've found people just seem to come to expect a Yorkie will be dressed up, certainly "bowed" up. I've taken them into stores without being "fixed up" and people have asked me why aren't they in "those cute little outfits"? ~KC |
I've made the mistake of taking pictures of her without clothes on - and people always ask me why she's naked. |
If someone came up to me and asked "why do you dress your dog?" I would say "because I want to". I don't think that is an obnoxious answer and yet.....hello, we're in America and if I want to dress up to look like a dog, I can. |
Lol. I love your answer!!!! Your 100% right if I wanna dress my dog it my business lol. People are crazy sometimes |
Lexi loves clothes and when I give her a bath she will go sit by her dresser until I put something on her. She hates to be nekkid...and to tell you the truly we think she looks nekkid without clothes on. I don't even think I have many pictures of her without anything on...I think she looks funny nekkid.....LOL Hugs Cheryl & Lexi |
Pat Catans and Michaels in Ohio has some really cheap bear clothes( I am assuming where you are from too)! The are a little snug on tucker (being 7 pounds) but you can't beat $1-$2Tucker has a sweater for every holiday, and birthday sweaters, and i even get him these cute sun visors. He just hates wearing them so I hate to spend so much money on them. |
I am from New Zealand :aimeeyorkHi Sara, just wanted to let you know that I am from New Zealand. All the best for you and your little fur baby, glad that I am not the only one that wants to dress up their Yorkies, I can see that there are a lot of people that liketo dress theri Yorkies, more people want to than don't want to. Regards, Leone |
Trudy loves wearing clothes and I love her in them! I actually do more shopping for Trudy's wardrobe then I do my own... She gets excited everytime she gets to put on an outfit. So as long as she is happy I'm happy!! As far as where to shop Wal mart occasionally has a cute shirt or sweater. I try to stay away from cheesy clothing. I will say I have been really disappointed with Target's selection these days. But I really search dog websites for new clothing non stop!:) |
LOL, I'm right there with you all....I love dressing Zhoie and she anxiously awaits getting dressed. Our kids our grown now too, so she has taken our hearts for sure. Her daddy even loves her clothes....so funny to see him walking his baby in her cutie outfit. ahahaha Here's the funny part...just this week I trimmed her coat on her saddle short, just so her clothes won't rub, split and mat her hair. I left it long on her head and legs...she is so adorable this way and it works so well for us!:D |
Your little Yorkie Looks Beautiful Quote:

I like dressing mine up too. I've found some good prices at Target....We don't have a Wallmart. My friend owns a Pet boutique in my town. I'm trying to talk her into getting a Yorkie or a Morkie as she doesn't have a small dog to dress up. It's always fun for my two to play dress up with all the Tu Tu's and dresses. It's actually reasonably priced for the quality that it is. Fun to look at too! www.klydestreetboutique.com |

Toby is my little stinker. He was a puppy mill rescue that I adopted in December 2009. He was in a foster home for a year and he's been quite challenging at times. But I wouldn't trade him for the world. Luckily, he is a healthy dog. He's trying to be the alpha dog to Speedy (our schichon) but we are working on that! She's about 18 lbs. and he's only 10 lbs. I need to update my photo album as I have some adorable pics of the two of them. Welcome to YT. There is a wealth of information on this site from very knowledgeable members. I look forward to seeing some pics of your furbaby! Dianne |
