Freezer Toys Anyone have any toys that are like the teething rings you put in the freezer for babies? I was eating once of those popsicles that are in the plastic wrapper and Maddie was trying to chew on it like crazy! I think she would really love something frozen to chew on. I have looked at Petco and can't find anything except that Chilly Bone that you get wet and freeze but that looks like a HUGE mess. I have also seen the couple ones from Petstages but didn't know if there is some sort of liquid or something. Any tips?

Hi, Maddiepie! I have seen (and own a couple of) the Petstages toys that you can freeze. One of the ones I have is a blue tube that narrows towards the center and it has several small ropes running through it with a large knot at each end (so that the ropes can't come out of the tube). Chloe is 18 weeks old so she is going through her teething stage, and I tossed this particular toy in the freezer for about 45 minutes or so thinking she might enjoy the colder temperature on her gums. Nope...she didn't want anything to do with it!! Granted, Chloe doesn't like ice cubes and she won't drink her water if it isn't at room temperature. Anyway, all that to say, the toy was definitely easy to freeze and it wasn't messy at all. No liquid or gel or anything in it, just the plastic gets cold. As to the popsicles, I know the kind you are talking about and Chloe loves to chase the end of the plastic around when I'm trying to eat one. However, she also tries to chase the end of my husband's toothbrush when he is brushing his teeth. So, for her, I think it is more the movement she's after! -C

Several years ago before my other yorkie Barry passed away I had one of the water filled freeze toys for him. (You filled it up, froze it and eventually water would squirt out little holes in the ends.) He LOVED that bone with a passion. His favorite thing in the world. It was a touch messy, and it did create a wet spot where he would chew it. I just lived with it because it only held 2-3 tablespoons of water and it just evaporated pretty quickly.

My pup's favorite thing when he was teething was totally homemade and cheap... I took an old ice cube tray and filled it up with his kibble and a few tiny chopped up pieces of carrot. Sometimes I'd include other fun things, like a pea or two per cube. Once the cubes were "filled" with food and other edible solids, I'd pour water in on top then freeze them. Nikko never liked plain ice cubes, but he adored those frozen food-cubes like godzilla would adore a skyscraper-sized chunk of veal. Gross, but awesome. They never had the chance to get too messy, because he ate them start to finish in one sitting, and never let them melt too much. Lauren & Nikko

| Most petstages toys are freezable which is a good thing The only toy I do not suggest is this one http://www.robstestdomain.co.uk/imag...-cool-chew.jpg I bought it for Tinky and when frozen, it doesn't seem like it is. Just defrosts in 2 minutes. Good thing Tinky likes chewing on it.
