Sarge got an Everlasting Treat Ball for xmas, those are supposed to stand up pretty well. They have them at Petsmart, but you can usually get a better deal online at Amazon or something. And its good for their brain too! :D |
I have two that will destroy toys. I have two bags full of them waiting to be sewn back together. (I hate to sew. ) They just tear them apart so fast. The rough toys that are supposed to last are now on their last legs... seems like my socks are a favorite toy and last longer than the toys I buy. Chattiesmom makes (or made) little bones out of fleece with a squeaker in them. My dogs love those and they have not destroyed one yet! :D |
tell it no or just let her do it my make her happy |
I have a 9 year old Jack mix and she tries to hump my Yorkie, when they are playing sometimes. I have also heard that it is dominance also. But, yeah between both of them we go through alot of toys... |
My lil one had more toys than I could name but now that she has lost her baby teeth and is almost a year old she seems to love to tear her stuffed toys apart....I am throwing out at least 1/3 toys a day......she has recently destroyed her hide a squirrel, hide a bee and anything that seems to have an eyes/nose/face to it.......so far her fleece toys/bobos/soccer balls she seems to do well with...she loves the Krackle Jax from Amber_Iv....It's funny how they get these little quirks and want to destroy their toys.... |
My Yorkie is also about 3 1/2 months old and he has been humping his toys too. I have been told by the very helpful members on this site that once you get the pup spayed/neutered he/she should stop this. Have fun with your new pup!:) |
Buddy will be 4 next month and peridiodically I buy a stuffed or soft toy from time to time to see if he has given up destroying them. Nope he hasn't. He destroyed the undisstructable tough toy I bought him for Christmas. Only took him 1 1/2 days to get it open and suck out all the stuffing and spit it out throughout the house. The darn thing was made out of fire hose material and stated undisstructable. LOL I want him to be able to cozy up to a stuffed toy, he loves them but just tears them to pieces. Back to hard rubber and solid beef bones again.:( He's like a termite. He chews through anything and everything! |
Kasey also destroys her toys. In particular, she devours the rubber chickens that have become popular in the pet stores -- but she also removes squeakers and stuffing with surgical precision on any toy. (: I worry about her swallowing the stuff. One toy I've found (in addition to the ball with feet that you all have mentioned) that has thus far been resilient is a toy that I find consistently at the grocery store, of all places. It's a Hartz toy, fairly inexpensive, that looks like an ice cream cone with spokes on it. Here's a link so you can see what I mean: http://www.hartzadvancedcare.com/Our...633&ActionID=2 Kasey LOVES the squeaker on this thing (and the other toys in this line - there's another one that resembles a rubber porcupine), and she shakes and shakes it, then brings it to me to toss for her. The only thing that you might not like about it is the noise -- the squeaker is pretty loud. Good luck!! Anxious to hear if anyone else has found success.... |

Well you know kongs have 3 tiers, my yorkie chews off the top piece so its just a 2 tiered toy. I do not think they make an indistructible yorkie toy. I find one that I think will last, but its just a matter of time. The last one ( she really loves) is called Kong Wubba, I got at a pet store. Its a squeaky soft kong wrapped in fairly strong nylon material. Its been a month, thats long for her. Shreading, don't know how long it will last. |
humping is a sign of dominance...hehe..she is tryign to let the frog know she is the queen...heeh |
Thanks everyone, some good tips...I read when I can.... |
Cricket will destroy anything, he chewed the wood on his dog house, branches from trees(think he's cribbing like horses do??) Those indestructible plastic crock bowls from walmart, he's destroyed 2, although it took him almost a year. any stuffed toy with a squeaker, he plays with the toy till he finds the squeaker then procedes to free said squeaker, than eat said squeaker, then gut the toy of stuffing. Luckly wiley will only gut a toy once cricket has freed the squeaker. I think they have more fun destroying things than anything. Their fav toys seem to be the gutted ones they will play tug of war with them till the arms and legs fall off. I think its just a dog thing. Have fun. |
humping problems Our Scout has just started the humping thing too. It's getting crazy. He mainly goes after the kids. I remember some of my friends giving their dogs "humping" toys in the past and I believe we are going to try the route also. Right now we have a large indoor pin that we put him in when he's feeling frisky. I don't want to get him neutered. Good luck to you!:goodluck: We also have problems with everything getting chewed. We've bought him lots of different toys, but still he feels the need to chew my kids toys. From what I've heard, they all do it and just have learn better. |
