Not raining here at the mo, actually it hasn't for a few days. Hope it doesn't rain tomorrow as I am working all day. |
Well, it's STILL raining here! :( They've cancelled the Royal Lancashire Show for today, said they're hoping to open to the public tomorrow but wouldn't hold much hope as there were pictures of all the lorries & horseboxes bogged down in the mud on Granada TV this morning.Last year it was cancelled completely. Don't expect they're having much fun at the Open golf at Birkdale today again either! Our bottom field is a quagmire, even the geese are fed up! xx Meggie |
That's usually the fate of the Royal Welsh Show in Builth Wells. I became fed up of having to be dragged off the parking field by tractor (before the days of my pickup truck). Being self employed now I don't get the time to go to the show anymore - Mid Wales is a two day trek from here. The village show is always great fun and the highlight for me is seeing the dogs - all breeds and sizes of pet dogs, not working ones, tackle the agility course. Despite their legs being so short (comparatively speaking) my two Yorkies have had great success over jumps: they absolutely love it! Even if the weather is foul on the day of the show it can be endured for a couple of hours and then home to a warm farmhouse. Do you show animals? |
I've quite often done the Builth Wells show with my Cairns. We do it in a day, leaving home at 3am we can get there for the start of judging, & get home late evening. Some of my father's family lived in Builth Wells, one had a pub & the others farms. He was born in Presteigne where the rest of his family came from. xx Meggie |
What a coincidence ... ... my family kept a pub too, in the Swansea Valley. I grew up in that environment and I think it did wonders for my understanding of all kinds of people. Hope your weather is better today. Weather here is lovely again today and we are in the garden erecting a puppy compound. Just ordered an outside dog kennel so by next weekend the puppies will be enjoying the outdoors in their own playground. I really hope they can live happily together in this compound, I don't really want to have to partition it. That's a hell of a trek down to Builth Wells for you, do you do it every year? My fiance hails from Burnely but more recently living in Leeds, and we used to be travelling between our homes on a regular basis. It used to take me 5 hrs with toilet stops for the dogs, and it took him 4 hours. Now he's in S. Wales too! I need to get out there to take some pictures of the building process for their website "9Welsh Yorkies". So adios for now! |
