Glenda Beavers Pet Store Issue

Are we all done throwing Glenda under the bus? I apologize for being such an a** hole yesterday. But I think that everything has been said, hashed and re-hashed. 100% of the facts have not been posted and its probably none of anyones business. Unfortunately, due to this witch hunt, Glendas reputation has been tarnished by judgemental people that will make a quick decision without knowing all of the facts. I am guilty of doing this also. Maybe this thread should be closed as nothing more than hurt feelings and chest thumping is resulting .

I wish you good luck in your purchase! But I can tell you there are many reputable breeders with just as nice yorkshire terriers who offer the same quality, guarantee and have been inspected by AKC, but they do not supply pet stores with puppies to sell! Reputable breeders who love the breed they are breeding and love their dogs would never ship puppies to a pet store for anyone to purchase. They would care about the homes their puppies would be going too. It amazes me how you can just ignore the evidence and support a breeder who ships puppies to a pet store. By her shipping puppies to a pet store she is helping the puppymills in the US keep going! She is supporting puppymills that are USDA licensed, because she is no different then they are. The best things for all animals in a puppymill or with a breeder who ships their puppies to a pet store would be to see them all shutdown!

I think Elanie deserves an apology and whoever sent her those emails needs to grow-up!

Oh, so your saying she had been deceived for about a year. From the list above the last one was just in August of this year.
To me the proof was in the vet paper.
The stamp on the right of the vet certificate are holes punched in and cant be duplicated.
To me it looks like she ships what pups she doesnt want from each litter to Puppylove, All the yorkies are the same age in each shipment.
Whether they were her pups or someone else's I don't know, but she shipped them.



Face it, weather they are hers or a friends, she is sending a breed that she
is suppose to love to a pet store with no concience at all! What kind of
a person does this? Looks like she's a full blown phony! Shame on you GB.
You can't help but wonder how many more are like her? Very sad.

I have to say that the same way that everybody here (I don't think she is ) is so quick to decide that GB is in the puppy mill - exploiting business. Let's not be naive about "other reputable breeders". For all we know they ARE selling to puppy mills, getting rid of unwanted puppies, not doing any health tests and God know whatelse. They just haven't been caught!

However, I totally agree with you on one thing - whoever sent this lady threatening emails should be held legally responsible. If they were PM's the Adm. of this forum have the name and IP address of the computer. If regular email - their ISP has their info. That was underhanded and nasty!

My major issue with this thread is it's repetitiveness.

I think this thread should be closed.

If not closed, then someone start a new thread on puppy mills & pet stores, and we can discuss & focus on these important concerns there. It doesn't get its due attention when coupled with GB & pet stores in this thread. If someone has new info on GB & pet stores it can be presented in a new thread or added to this one if it's still open.

I just wonder if someone would e-mail the people that own this petstore, and ask them what breeder they get their beautiful yorkies from, if they would tell them? I was going to e-mail earlier, and just say that I would like to know who the breeder of the yorkies are, as I would also like to look at their website...Wonder if they would be honest??

I doubt the answer would be GB. Someone posted that they talked to the owner of the pet store, and the owner claimed not to know GB.

correct. I did call when I first heard of this story, before I actually posted my feelings on this topic. I told the owner I heard she had yorkies sent from GB and I would like to come see them if she had any there... she hesitated and said "no" I continued and said, oh geez..I was excited because I am not that far, I would have rather see them in person than have one shipped in from her. She said, I never heard of her, I am the owner and I would know of that name if I had her puppies. So I apologized for my misunderstanding ... I never brought this up, until GB said she was good friends with her. My feelings were, this pet shop owner didn't have to deny not knowing her at all, she could of said something like " I know her, but I am sorry, I do not get my puppies from her" she was obviously covering up, I actually thought so when we hung up. My suspicions were correct after GB admitted she was friends.

For those of you who think I am a cruel person looking to ruin someone, I am not. I voiced my opinion, just how all of you had. When I feel I am right, I really stick to my guns if this is what I feel in my heart . I don't follow the "in" crowd, I follow my own feelings and what I believe in.

about a good 20 years ago, I was that person who honestly didn't know any better about pet shops. My boyfriend from way back then bought me a yorkie puppy from a pet shop. We were out and there it was. A pet shop with adorable puppies. I saw my baby and I had to have her..it was love at first sight..she was the custest thing ever. Well.. she became very sick..it was about two days or so after having her home. I rushed her to a vet, they told me she had pneumonia. The pup received meds, did not get any better in a few days, but worse..much worse. I took her to a different vet, and she had parvo. They did try to treat her with meds in IV's..I stayed with her, would not leave her side. Well she lost her battle and died in my arms. To this day I can still see this very sick little girl, I will never shake it, ever. I since learned about puppy mills and all the sickness in these poor dogs. I have told many people in my time not to buy in pet shops, it makes me cringe. This has been a sore subject with me for years and I can't find not one place in my heart to forgive any one who contributes to them. I was just as shocked as any one who learned of this story. I don't know her personally at all.. I have talked with her just a few times about a year ago about a puppy.. I called her because she was 'the breeder' with rave reviews and gorgeous dogs. The voice I talked with on the phone was "a nice person" but I have since learned, there are many BYB's and puppy mill people out there who also sound very nice on the phone.. it dawned on me that just because a person may be dishonest, doesn't mean they sound it or just have a good line that we can fall for.

I am 100% aware this is going around in circles. Each and every one of you have the right to your own opinions and values, but please, don't try to take mine away or accused me of other motives, this is simply not true. I have to admit, I did get my hair up a few times, I think we all have, but I always speak the truth in what I feel. Each and everyone of you can believe or not believe what is going on here, that is totally up to you. I will end this by saying sometimes we are our own worse enemy, we make choices whether right or wrong and along with this comes consequences to face. I will stick by what I have said to the end , for this is what I believe is the truth.

The issue is not about how good her lines are, how healthy her puppies are, or what a good shower she is. The issue is that this lady who is supposed to be an advocate of the Yorkshire Terrier Breed, who is valued and respected in the community of dog fanciers, would willingly ship small puppies to a pet store.

Also, I don't believe it makes any difference if she shipped her puppies, or someone elses. If she truly loved animals, she would have not done such a thing.

The defense that it wasn't her dogs is ridiculous. If she loved animals,she would have educated her "friend" and encouraged them not to do such a horrible thing. Since GB is such a good and helpful friend, maybe she could have helped the "other breeder" place their puppies, since she has no problem placing her own.

Your character is determined by the actions you take when you think no one is looking.

Go to this link, call the Animal Control Division at the Department of Agriculture in Hartford, CT. Request copies of 4 health certificates. You may have to request them in writing, ask if there is a copying and mailing fee (it will be minimal). I always just go there, it’s only an hour away, but assume most of you aren’t in CT.

Ask for the following Oklahoma health certificates:

1359147 (The 2 Bulldogs) dated 6/2/08
1371383 (4 Poodles, 6 Yorkies) dated 8/21/08
1371384 (2 Pugs) dated 8/21/08
1145021 (1 Pug, 5 Yorkies) dated 1/22/07
Please note, those are the vet sign-off dates located at the bottom of the certificates. Glenda Beavers or Sean/Nancy Silverman are listed as the consignors (sellers).

That way you will be getting the certificates from a disinterested third party and you can make of it what you will. You could probably request the same information from the Oklahoma Dept of Ag, although I do not have their contact info.

All I have stated from the beginning is that Glenda Beavers does not have a USDA breeder OR broker license to sell to pet stores based upon the number of breeding females at her facility. I don’t care about her show ring reputation, that’s not my concern. But if she cares so much for puppies, why would she ship so many to a store that buys the bulk of its pups from Hunte Corporation, the largest and most notorious puppy broker in the country? Would she not be concerned about the diseases her pups would be exposed to in the store? Parvo, kennel cough, pneumonia, giardia, coccidia etc?

I’ve truly had enough of being attacked by the lynch mob on this site. I have presented the truth from the beginning and stand by it. If there is some way that you all want to justify Ms. Beaver’s actions, so be it. Doesn’t trouble me one way or the other, I was just sharing information from the documents I have.

Karen, I read up to page 12 and I have about had it. I don't know what's right or wrong but I've been involved with the Yorkshire Terrier breed for 25 years and I have never heard a bad word about Glenda Beavers ever and I would bet money on her any day of the week. I would just like to ask one favor of you......in fairness I would like you to post information on yourself that we can check out. This would only be fair.
