I recently bought a baby yorkie from petconnect.com i did my research so i thought. i offered to fly to missouri where the are located and was told it was safe to have her flown as it was a short flight to michigan. From the day i had her she was at the vet. I called petconnect and told him she was sick. I was told the health guarantee didn't cover hypoclocemia (I never told them what the illness was, he said it right away). My puppy passed away after 6 days (all of which were at the vet). I informed them of her passing and he demanded an autopsy, which I refused because she had been through enough. My vets professional opinion was that she had seizures before she was even sent, thus her little heart could not take anymore. She did not pass away from hypoglocemia though she did have it, she was on glucose iv's the whole time. Please, if you are buying a pup do not buy from these people...not only am I sad over my puppy but I also spent over a thousand dollars on her vet bills. I am looking for a new pup, I was looking for 6 months before I picked "Chloe"....I live in Michigan so if anyone has any ideas let me know. I will drive to surrounding states and don't really care about the price, if I did I would have gone through with the autopsy and sued petconnect blind. Thanks for letting me vent!!

Hell they wouldn't even know what hit them if that happened to me
and I'd try to make it very public so no one else would buy from them ever again!

i thought about suing them but i wouldn't know where to begin since they are out of state. also, i can't prove her cause of death since i refused the autopsy. my vet did give me his professional opinion though and has no problem with citing her cause of death.

That poor baby. I'm so sorry for what you went thru....too many people are just interested in shipping that little puppy and getting PAID. They don't care a bit about whether the dog makes it. How sad.

The only thing that made me feel a little better was that my vet has a "visiting" room and I was able to go everyday and spend as much time with her as I wanted, I had never used this vet before but will use him when I get a new baby, whenever that may be. My vet even called petconnect to explain to them what happened and my vet said it was like talking to a deaf ear....the guy just kept denying any responsibility. I had been around yorkies since the day I was born, my mom used to breed them and then could never part with the babies unless they were going to a neighbor or family member. This was my first time I was getting a baby to take care of "by myself".

Welcome and I'm so sorry to hear about your furbaby. If you're looking for another baby, check the For Sale or Wanted forums. Many reputable YT breeders post when their litters are available. Best of luck to you and your future baby.

Welcome to YT. What an awful tragic story. Poor baby. They sound like
horrible breeders and only in it for the money. If not you, then I hope
someone will sue the pants off them, however that would mean another sick pup. People like this should rot in h--l! Sorry for your heartache.

you guys have no idea how happy i am that i found yorkietalk :) yesterday i emailed the apri and told them the story, they emailed me back and asked me to mail them all my documentation. maybe nothing will come of it, but i feel a little better. i also think i found a wonderful home breeder in ohio. here's the crazy thing........we emaild back and forth and i was asking a million questions which she answered almost immediatley. a couple hours later a friend called me to ask if i wanted to go to ohio on saturday for some car race. out of curiosity i emailed the breeder to see how far away she was from where the race was going to be. she sais she's 5 miles and told me to stop by and visit :) i can meet the puppies mom and dad ( can't hold the pup yet as she was born on 8-8). i told my friend who said it must be a sign so...im going to visit. then my friend said there's a big car show slash race the week of hallowwen which is when the pup will be able to come home with me. i hope it works out and i have allready named her fergie (from the black eyed peas) and the breeder said as soon as i decide she will start calling her fergie so she will be used to it :) keep your fingers crossed.

It's a breeders responsibility to warn buyers about hypoglycemia and educate them on the care of their new babies.

They probably shipped him to young anyway.

How old was he?

one more thing, the place i bought her from was petconnectonline.com, my brain wasn't keeping up with my fingers in the first post. also, does anyone know how i would go about suing them? the breeder was ruth ann goostree of missouri and i am in michigan. thanks for any help.

How did you pay for your puppy?? If you put it on a credit card, notify them immediately of what happened and tell them you want to dispute the charges. Also notify the attorney general of the state you purchased the dog with a complaint. Also the FCC because the dog traveled over statelines.

I am sorry about your loss but it is important to fight back when and where you can.

You are right. I have been so sad over losing her, but now it's time to fight back. I have allready filed a complaint with the Missouri Attorney General and will now call my credit card company. I'm nervous though, I'm just one person and they are a bussiness. I'll keep you all updated.

Don't be nervous! You aren't the one that did anything wrong. Under no circumstances should a puppy that young be on a plane. I haven't had a chance to look at their website to see where they are from. I'm from MO too, so I might be able to help some. It's people like this that give good breeders a bad name in MO. I'm so sorry that you are even having to go through this! I hope that it works out with the puppy you found. I'm glad you are able to go there and see the living conditions and meet the dam and sire. Ask lots of questions and make sure you find out about the health guarantee!

Ok, petconnectonline.com is not the breeders website. That's just a place to post ads. Does the breeder have a website?

yeah, i think petconnectonline.com is kind of a "doggie ebay" where they sell the dogs for breeders. The breeder dosn't have a website i dont think but her name is Ruth Ann Goostree of Missouri. My credit card was paid to petconnectonline though. I have talked to my credit card company and even they were appaled. When my pup first passed away I and even my vet called petconnectonline. They said there was nothing they would do and the breeder never even bothered to call to say she felt bad or sorry or anything. I ended up with a heartless breeder. I do think petconnectonline should make sure the pups are healthy though before they agree to ship. Another thing, when I first picked her up her breath smelled funny, not like puppy breath.....it was different but I didn't think about it til I noticed she wasn't feeling well and took her to the vet, where they immediatley admitted her.

I dont know. I just went and looked at all the yorkies available and they either have a 573 area code listed to contact or a 417 area code and i know the 417 number is petconnect because i called before to inform them of my puppies passing.
