I have read both sides and I am sorry this happened to all involved. I guess if looking for a future stud I would have not bought a pup that had been a " mistake " line breeding in the first place. Did a vet ( mabey a second vet opinion too )
ever say for a fact that these seizures were being caused by a genetic or medical problem or was it still in question what caused the seizures? If it was in fact a genetic or medical problem I feel the buyer should have been refunded the money and the pup returned ( or kept if the seller said ok) Bad things can happen when breeding dogs, but I think it's how the breeder handles the problems that makes or breaks a breeders reputation. Sorry, I don't mean to stir things up again.

the person with the complaint would make a new thread and the complaint would be heard. then those that don't have any personal experience with the breeder and knows nothing about the breeder or his/her practices would not be allowed to post. i mean, come on, Vi, why should they even post? i will use myself for example. thank goodness i have only good reviews so far but what if i did have a bad one from an unhappy buyer, why should you be allowed to say anything? now remember, I just used us as examples. you are right. It is for personal experience. to me, that means IF YOU have had personal experience with the breeder or seller.

Just like this thread. How many of you that have posted have had any personal dealings with this breeder? if you haven't, then why are you posting? like myself. i shouldn't even be posting but it got off topic and became about all the arguing so i, like many of you, jumped right in. bad me!!!!!!

I don't look at it as 'bad you' for going off topic & we all post to things we don't necessarily have personal dealings with - but that applies to practically the whole site not just Breeder Reviews - I realize you're a breeder & this is more sensitive for you - but lately it's really getting rigid with the many rule changes. I just don't see the point of one person posting and threads getting locked automatically.

I guess I look at YT as a free site where all can post...the more locked threads and rules I see - the less attractive it is to me (personally)...besides we sometimes get different perspectives when ALL are allowed to post.

V -I feel that the Breeder/Groomer review section as well as others forums are and should be used as educational. Locking a thread after each post would circumvent what this forum was a originally set up to do. A meeting place for people with a common interest to share and learn from each other.

I'm a breeder that doesn't advertise on this forum or anywhere else. But that doesn't mean I won't end up on the breeder review section one day. I'd prefer it to be a good one, but if I can't take the heat, I'd better get out of the fire. Cause I for one know you can please the people part of the time, but you can't please them all of the time.

In your thread title, make sure you put in the name of your breeder, groomer, or vet, as well as the city and state (or city and country for non-USA cities). If there is a company name, you can include that as well.

I copied and pasted this from the rules for posting to this forum. maybe locking threads is a bad thing but i don't see any other way to see that the forum is used the right way and according to the rules. mardelin, I wholeheartedly agree with you about pleasing people. I have been very fortunate so far to have satisfied buyers. But all it takes is one unhappy person.

Yes, all it takes is one unhappy person.....but, if I know what I'm doing is correct, breeding the best and standing behind my breeding when something goes wrong, I have nothing to fear. Any Breeder that says that their breeding is perfect and hasn't had something go wrong is a liar. It's what we do when something goes wrong and the best we can do is make it right.

If we start locking the threads, then lets do one better remove the whole section.

Don't mind me Sugarsmom :) :) - I wasn't trying to debate with you - After being here so long I just keep seeing 'Rules Rules Rules' and the site used to be about people sharing info - meaning posting to and replying to threads no matter what the topic was - now we can't even hardly say a thank you in some sections due to some people complaining its a 'bump' or whatever -

Simonandhallie does a great job moderating here I think and there really aren't that many threads that get out of hand considering how big the site is.

V, I wish I had been here during the "good ole days", and I do agree that Simonandhallie does a great job. It's a lot of work. There have been some threads that were closed that did honestly run their course. What's interesting to me is how if someone just doesn't like the way a discussion is going, they run to the teacher. Tattletale, tattletale..they don't want to play the game "I" want to play.. There are threads that get a little heated, just because as we have all said, we're very passionate about our babies and want things to be done correctly and for the benefit of the breed. Even on the somewhat heated discussions that have gone on, there was a lot of interesting points brought up and most of us learned from them. I know, I plan to post bad web sites when I run across them and I hope people will continue to feel free to do the same when they have found something or had a bad experience.
As Mardelin said, no one is perfect, but, being honest and confronting a problem if there is one, there should be nothing to be afraid of. People can give opposite opinions, but not if the threads are closed after each post.
Freedom of speech...my son spent 4 years fighting for this right. It's something we should cherish. Not all people are so lucky.

Let me add, before anyone gets their feelings hurt or their tail feathers ruffled, I was speaking in general. Not directed at any particular people but to all.

I agree with you 100%! There are many times when we see threads and personally don't like the direction they take. I see it all the time. We just have to learn to accept that opinions differ from our own and other individuals have as much right to voice them as we do. I personally don't think it warrants a rule change....I think it warrants us all to remember that it's not our responsibility, place or right to tell people what they can or can't post. That why we have moderators--that's THEIR job. They have done a great job thus far, why not let them continue and enforce things as THEY see fit.:)

I actually saw a thread a few minutes ago, the subject of which has been a very hot topic in the past. I read it, saw different opinions were allowed to be voiced, learned something I never knew before, and was really impressed with the fact that no one had gotten irritated or defensive or insulting or called for it to be closed. And did I mention that I (and others) learned something?
