When I told her that, she flipped out. She said you should not crate her, and what does she have to do for me. Write a whole list on how to take care of a yorkie. She was very rude .

Mardelin, where are these laws stated ? Is there a website on it ?

I'm pretty sure this has happened to her before, as she had her friend whom was there at the time of purchase call me, to see what was wrong. I spoke with her, and let her know that I was on my way to the vet. When I said that she said I could come to the breeders or sellers house so they can look at her, and take care of her for a couple of hours if needed. I wansn't about to take any chances, so I said no, and told her I think the vet should look at her. She told me that her friend(breeder/seller) had albon if needed because the vet was going to charge me alot of money for it.
Ugh I really didn't know there were puppy brokers, but the more I think about things, the more it sounds so true. I never did see the parents, and she told me she would send me the AKC registration.

California Lemon Laws for Dogs

Here's one website. But as Capt Noonie says if you google California Pet Lemon Laws....there's website after website.

Refunding you vet fee and prescription fee would be the best way for this broker to go. You can very well report her Better Business Bureau, Consumer Affairs......etc.

You can just google CA puppy lemon law and a lot of info will come up. I think the consumer affairs site should have info on it.

I didn't know about brokers until I came here too. the more I know now, the more I think my Uni could have come from one too. the lady who I got her from didn't have the mom there, just a picture of her, who she said was at her house. The pups were at her place of business. She owned a company that manufactured and imported doggy strollers, toys, wrought iron beds, etc. We were terribly uninformed but fell in love with her, so we bought her. Things could have gone horribly wrong for us, thank goodness they didn't. The lady didn't have papers with her either, she sent them to me weeks afterwards. It was hard to get her back on the phone too. :(

Sounds so much like what happened to me. However, I did go to her house, or at least I think it was. I absolutely fell in love with her little face out of the 3 she had.
I have been trying to call her, but she doesn't answer her phone. I was recently looking at the penny saver ,and seen that she advertised in their too. As Micro Mini tea cups or something like that, and AKC, DNA tested. She hasn't even sent me her papers, or returned my messages.
Thanks for the info:)

Just want to tell you that Uni was recently diagnosed with mild pancreatitis as well. So add that to the short list of problems we have with her. We are still very lucky. But that doesn't excuse the person we bought her from. If you are having problems with this breeder, you need to contact a lawyer and have the puppy lemon law behind you!

PS my Uni was not advertised as AKC or DNA tested, so I was duped even more than you! And we did pay a good amount for her, I am ashamed to say.:(

Ah, the brokers. I wish I had found this site before I bought my two. Mine weren't sick at first, but I had never heard of a broker until I got to YT. They are as bad as the puppy mills as ultimately that is where they come from. Breaks my heart to think about it.

There are what are called stickies at listed in every section. There are a few on how to pick your breeder, your pup. The first rule of thumb is you buy your breeder first, then your pup. If you don't feel comfortable with your breeder, leave. I don't care how cute that pup is, cause all pups are cute. A reputable breeder is one that is there for you 7x24 and stands by their breeding.

But, again let me reiterate, this horrible breeder you bought your pup from is responsible for your pups vet bills and that is per California Law.

I hope once you get this settled you reveal who the breeder was so, that no one else has to go through what you're going through.

Use this site to your advantage, ask questions, when need be. But, you did the right thing, you got your baby to the vet. Coccidia is common and may have not reared it's ugly head, had the pup not been removed from it's mom at such a young age.

If i may, You are so right and i do not understand how anyone could do this to there puppies,Do not buy a pup if you can not see the mom and dad,you do not know what you are ending up with this is a really bad sign run and don't look back. Oh i'm sorry i am a breeder and a darn good one i might add. I spare no expence when it comes to my babies.

I am so sorry to hear that about your little Uni... I do plan on contacting a lawyer, however I am still waiting on her AKC papers. If I do not get them in the allotted time frame. She will be hearing from me.
Unfortunatley, I have been doing some research on this lady, and found a bad breeder/broker thread on here. It was posted a couple of years ago...

when adjusting to a new home..the pup is bound to suffer from separation anxiety which will include not eating and drinking or lead to vomiting direahea..i always suggest that if its not cleared up im a few days go to vet...but if the pups just came home she is scared, upset and nervous most likely

This is true, It is hard on them. But if they don't get over this soon
they do need vet checked, or you could loose your little one.:)
