Here is something I came across Puppy Mill Fighters - Be a part of the solution instead of the problem!
Very interesting when you click on the links and see inspections and especially the number of pups they have!

how can I get my bad breeder on this list ? I can't believe shes not!

The USDA list isn't a list of bad breeders, it's a list of breeders who sell over a certain number of litters a year, and they may sell to brokers and pet stores, as well as the public. Not all USDA breeders are bad. A breeder who sells over the internet, or directly to the public, doesn't even need to be listed under USDA regulations, and they get no kennel inspections, so they could possibly be much much worse. Some people believe that you should avoid anyone on the list, but not being on the list assures you of nothing. Always visit the breeders home, just because a person seems like a nice person, do not assume that the breeding dogs are kept in humane conditions.

Oh I just now recognized your name from the other thread, you were talking about Deborah Mace, weren't you? She might have a kennel name that's listed under someone else's name; these people are pretty sneaky.

Yes, I found that article, just to late. I would like to let everyone know how they can just google their number or name. After looking her up I would of not bought a puppy from her. I have learned a lot just having this happen to me and I can not believe all the email on this happening to others, It makes me sad for all the puppies and even what the mothers go through, using them to make money. This is for Iowa, is there a current list for all the states? I know there is a list out there, but it is not really too current. E.

Oh also for those interested you can call the state your breeder's kennel is in and ask them for a open records. You can obtain their kennel inspection report, and ask for any complaints or violations as well as how many animals they currently have and the conditions at time of inspection. I ONLY found this out last week. It's open records / freedom of information. You can also call their town and see if there are any litigations going on and info. on their current license too. E.

Did anyone ever hear of the Michigan Yorkie Breeders.com? I was looking at all the Yorkies they're selling and got the most uncomfortable feeling ... perhaps because there were so many. They also said that they get some of their puppies outside of Michigan ... whatever that means. I'm asking because I'm trying to find the "perfect pet quality Yorkie" for me and my husband. Our precious Yorkie passed away last October....and it broke our hearts I thought while I'm trying to get over her death, I would educate myself about Yorkshire Terriers; however, that is easier said than done! There's A LOT of information out there ... and it just makes me more and more confused. I suppose that I should follow my instincts, if I'm uncomfortable I should walk away. Anyway I thought I would ask.......

It sounds like a broker who buys from breeders and resells. You can be almost sure that these dogs are coming from puppy mills. Please do not buy from anyone where you have not personally taken the time to visit the breeder's facilities.

Have you heard about the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America, they are the mother club of the Yorkie, and set the standard for the AKC. They have breeders in most states, and I highly recommend talking with a YTCA member. Remember, even if you aren't planning to breed or show, supporting good breeders is so important. Ah my little Jack was purchased at a puppy store before I knew about puppy mills. After researching his place of birth I found he was born in Oklahoma. Just kinda funny he was born in OK and being sold in FL. Sounds like puppy milling to me. I tried to find more info on the breeder and found a few things. Someone who worked in a puppy store in another state and experianced her puppies posted some stuff about her on the internet and the breader sued the girl. I only found a few things about her under that name though. I do not see her name on the list posted in this thread. I am glad I was able to rescue Jack from the puppy store. The owner showed me a pup he had from the same littler and it was so tiny he could not even put out front to sell. Not sure if he was trying to sell it to me. Josie come from a home breeder in FL. Such a night and day difference between the two when they were puppies. Jack is so sweet though.

I second what you say. She sounds so sweet, southern draw, and a mom. She is not honest. She has no medical knowledge and does not have public record of a nursing license as she says. She breeds sooo many puppies different breeds, google map her farm, and then read the usda inspector report. Havana silks and all her other names stink of puppy mill. My dog had issues, she gave me another dog, he has issues. He dogs are very cute, she is very dishonest.

I am Melissa Barnes from Arkansas. I am not a USDA breeder. I am mainly a havanese breeder and on occasions will help a friend or family member sell some of thier puppies. I sent this person a private message to try and get some more info but she has not responed to me so i have no choice but to post a quote. I also contacted the yorkietalk administarator to try and get this worked out and they said it is a free blog and a person can write whatever they want about a breeder, a vet, or a website and i was informed that they were not going to remove the post and i was welcome to join and write a response.
