Bad Experience Sanjur in MN I purchased a puppy... little did I know it had a damaged growth plate which my vet says happened long before I brought the puppy home by what he saw on the xrays. I actually contacted the breeder soon after I brought the puppy home with concerns of the puppy favoring a leg and she said the puppy checks out fine... now worries. I tried not to worry and the problem just kept getting worse over the course of the first few weeks I have had her. I once again contacted the breeder with the vet results and the breeder will have nothing to do with helping me out. I have this little puppy with a serious problem that I paid a premium price for. I guess I should have been a bit wary about her since her ad stated that she raises her puppies in her home under foot (what ever that means). Her kennel full of dogs is in a unattached building in her back yard with no puppies in her home. I just can't believe I paid such a high price for a puppy that is just of pet quality. Stupid me! |

Hey another MN mommy! I am so happy you chose a Yorkie but I feel awful that you are experiencing problems with the puppy and breeder. I am a first time Yorkie mom also. I bought a puppy from a MN breeder near Pipestone, MN. She told me he checked out fine but now I have one vet that says he's healthy and another says he has LP in both of his hindlegs. I don't know if she covers this problem in her health guarentee but I could careless. I love Jack and am will to do what it takes for him. I know you love your puppy and I hope you work things out with this breeder. You are not stupid. Unless you know what you are to look for and how to tell you are left at the mercy of your judgement at the time. Just inexperience is all. |
Hello, I am so sorry to hear about your puppy. I Know of Sanjur in Elk River MN I have been their. When I was there the puppies were in kennels in her basement. She now has them in the pole barn with the Adults? |
is this her website SanJur Yorkies |
Yes I do believe it is. |
on her website it states All the puppies are raised in the house underfoot?? SanJur Yorkies |
Yes... it does say that all babies are raised in her home under foot. They are all in a pole building. When we went into the house to take care of business she only had one puppy in the house recovering from a broken leg. Hmmm... a broken leg in her care? She doesn't call her situation a kennel but that is the way I see it. I love my little darling just the same. We won't know the extent of the disfigurement until the puppy is done growing. I will of course keep her! I love that little angel! On her web site my puppy's picture is there. Chelsea... she is all dolled up in pink and a feather boa. |
goodness, she has them on sale :( State Fair specials. |
I guess when you breed so many you have to find homes for them some how. She had about 5 litters in the room at the time I went there. It looked like 9 were ready for new homes and 4 almost ready with several tiny babies too. I would like to know where all these babies go. |
Cabby's second male looks part scottie too me. That pup has a awefully long nose. Sorry to say this but not many of those puppies look pure or very healthy looking. the tiny female on the bottom looks like she's got a snotty nose. Good luck getting your money back or atleast something. ty |
She has many breeders with many different looks. For pet quality Yorkies they are all nice. Yes, some have long noses and I don't like that either. My puppy has a very short, adorable nose! I have given up on her and have moved on. I just hope she works on her business practices! Her vet tech has even called her that 'evil woman'. |
Wow. So I just went onto her website and read her About Us page. She breeds for tiny (teacup if you will). Quote: "Their sizes range from two and a half lbs -five lbs. Sometimes I get bigger ones closer to 6-7 lbs." I know 5 pounds isn't so bad as my little boy is supposedly only going to be 5 pounds but smaller than that and you are just asking for trouble. And that is very sad that she is having a special. She might as well as post a sign that says "ALL YORKIES MUST GO!" But I am very happy that you are in love with your little girl. And hope that all these little babies are saved and find wonderful loving homes like yours did. |
I find it interesting that she doesn't bother to show the adult yorkies that are parenting these pups. I' would also question why all the pups are APRI registered when she has AKC registered adults. Did AKC suspend her privledges? AKC will suspend you if you are found not keeping your dogs in a humane manner or are lax with your record keeping. |
I think she just has too many adult breeders to put on her website. She had about 20 or so of them. I am not even sure if she has a kennel permit. She is breeding the little ones because that seems to be what the demand is. You wouldn't believe the emails I am getting from her about my posts. I am being honest here. She has got a problem. She thinks I have single handedly ruined her reputation. I think it was already ruined. I can't seem to find anyone that doesn't think her business practices need much improving. |
