I had just talked to her about her puppies! I am so glad I saw your post as I was ready to go out and look at a puppy from her. She is very nice on the phone and seemed to love her babies but said she had only about 5 that she bred. I have been taken in before, it seems that many Yorkie breeders, even premium puppies, don't tell the truth. I tell everyone, don't wait, get that puppy to your vet the same day you pick it up and have it checked over thoroughly before you fall totally in love, 3 days you are already hooked. Have the vet note "everything" so you can take that puppy back to the breeder if there is something wrong. Most breeders do not cover bad patella's and it is a rampant problem that can be checked right away. Also check to make sure that a guarantee will give you your money back for at least 7 days unless the puppy is injured in your care. Believe me, I learned this lesson the hard way 3 different times. I love my babies and will do anything necessary health care wise so they are happy, but, I wish I had done more research before buying each of them at 1500.00 - 2,000 each. Definitely a buyer beware.

Some of the 'Yorkie' pups were white, and yet she claimed they were pure breeds.

Some of this was our lack of experience with the breed, and some of this was us seeing a puppy we wanted to help. Luckily, our puppy turned out fine and he is an active little guy with no health problems. What I will say though is that we bought him as a pure breed Yokshire Terrier. I love him all the same, but there's a principle to it. Also, he was to cap off at 5-7lbs... He's 16lbs, and we've since sussed out hat he's a Morkie (a very healthy, fun loving Morkie). Something I would have known, had I done some investigating and actually thought through the signs right in front of my eyes.

Like I said, I love the guy to pieces, but he truly turned out to be a Slum Dog Millionaire. Sandy should be absolutely shut down, since she demonstrates very little regard for the puppies and sells puppies as a business at any cost. Is this something Animal Control can investigate? I can't stand this kind of stuff...

Also, for the record, we've since adopted two other healthy boys from a rescue. Best decision we've ever made, since it saves lives and you get as good of a dog/puppy as anywhere you can 'buy' them...

Does anyone have an recommendations for a Yorkie breeder in Minnesota? I have been hearing and reading a lot horror stories about different breeders. I am looking to purchase a Yorkie but would like recommendations.

I know you want a Yorkie, and they're great BTW, but if you are patient they do show up at rescues. We have rescued 2 yorkies, and couldn't be happier with having done so. Coco's Heart Dog Rescue is a great rescue resource, and if you go through the adoption process ahead of time you can prepare yourself for when a Yorkie comes available.

Our youngest was only 12 weeks when we rescued him, and he's a Yorkie. No mistake, with his Batman ears and color. Still, I'd love him all the same even if he grew to be 50 lbs.

Well, if it prevents people from perpetuating a problem I would argue it's valuable information. The thread started 6 years ago, but we bought our puppy 3 years back. Ergo, still good info in all likelihood.

I like reading OLD posts, they get revived and shows the bad breeders are still at their work,,,,
