You have to take time to go to the breeders home and see the puppies. That is the way to protect your self. You would not buy a car unseen or not test drive it. If you do I have some land to sell you. I am not saying you should not be upset but just learn that over the net is not the way to pay a puppy unless you know the person, yourself. It is BBW when you buy over the net or meet a breeder somewhere and did not take time to drive and find a puppy yourself. I sorry this happen to you, but maybe you have learned, for the next time. I am not the person to be getting up set at. I am a breeder, I raise yorkies and maltese, I don't ship any of my puppies, I don't sell to pet stores, and I never met anyone with a puppy. They come to my house and they can see I have very health puppies. And they can see my kennel, and that my dogs don't live in cages, that they are very well taken care of. This way when they leave my house with a puppy they know they have a health puppy. |
about posting some about a bad breeder on puppyfind.com they are alway going to take the breeders side, they are paying them for that ad, it is all about money. So the only way to use puppyfind.com is to find breeders that has puppies close to you so that you can contact them and go see their puppies. I am again sorry this happen to you, but it is happening time and time again so, just maybe others will read this and take to heart to make that drive to the breeders home and if they want let you in their kennel Red flag, (the only thing a breeder should not want you to do is touch a puppy that has not had the 1st set of shots.) But if they want let you know find a new breeder. Good luck next time. |
Bad Experience with Starmye Halpain poodle puppy I bought a poodle puppy about 2 1/2 years ago from ultimatepuppies.com and StarmyHalpain. My god-daughter found the puppy on the website and based on the pictures and info on the website, we assumes the puppies were well taken care of and were in excellent conditions. What a disappointment. For starters, we drove to Oklahoma to get the puppy and when we got into town she told me to meet her at the local gas station and she would bring the available poodle pupppies. She claimed that her residence was too difficult to find and it would be best to just meet her. Then upon meeting her,we of course fell in love with the puppies. I selected one and then she refused to take my personal check. She followed us to the nearest ATM machine in town so that we could get her cash. Two days after getting the puppy home, he refused to eat and was throwing up. I called her and she told me to give him pedialyte and plain yogurt. Nothing helped. I ended up taking him to the vet as I thought he was dying and they told me that he had a severe case of kennel cough and that any decent breeder should have known this. He was very sick. I went through 3 rounds of anti-biotics and 3 vet visits for him to get better. Still to this day he chokes and coughs severely. They had to remove his tonsils, but this did not help. About 6 months after I had my puppy, he almost died once again. I have spent close to $1200 in vet bills to help my puppy stay alive and well. I have definitely learned a lot from this experience and certainly hope that noone else goes through this. I should have noticed all of the warning signs before buying my puppy, but just assumed she was reputable and honset. After going through all of this, I would NOT recommend this breeder to anyone. |

I too was fooled by ultimate Puppies I bought a Yorkie Pup and he had problems with both legs. It ended up costing me 5,000.00 for surgery. When I contected them, the husband was threatening as well. I told them they were selling beautiful puppies disguised in beads, boas and bandanas. i asked for a portion of the cost and they told me to send him back. My twins had already fallen in love with him. I wish we could all get together and shut these people down FOR GOOD.:animal36 |
The Halpains are scam artists I have about 30 emails back and forth from them, threatening me, hostile and not even sympathetic. the husband also stated to me that he has a 500,000 "state of the art facility for these dogs" they must be raking in the cash at our expense. these people have not an ounce of forgiveness or love for these poor puppies. They know that once people see these dogs, they fall in love, they feel sorry for them, and will do whatever it takes to save them. "Once sold all is forgotten with the Halpain's. I even wrote to Dateline and 20/20 to see if they would investigate them I have not heard anything yet. |

I am so sorry to all of you for going through this. I think all of you need to network to see something is done. So what that a handful of dogs she sold are healthy. If a person CONTINUES to have this kind of deception and sorry business practices, they should be forced to shut down. These presious animals deserve MORE! Her continuing a breeding program under these conditions is SICK! :thumbdown |
Starmye Halpain Please go back to the begining of this thread and read mine. Also go to Rip off Report. com. I was also threatened by this Husband. These people also sent the Police to my Home stating I was commiting an Internet Crime because I disputed the charge for the Puppy on my Credit Card. Once I showed the Police numerous files, complaints on these People they wrote their Report. I have had numerous problems with my Puppy sine the day I picked her up at the Airport in May of 2008. This was a wake up call for me. They sent me a Sick Puppy not to mention a different Puppy from the one I ordered online. I have spent a lot of Money on this Puppy that was suppose to be perfect. I love her so very much. Every day I look at her, I feel so happy that I took her away from the Horrible life she would have had with them. I think all Puppy Mills shoud be shut down. There is a case in Massachusetts now dealing with these people who are full of greed. They Breed numerous sick Puppies and sell them for a lot of money. They break many people's heart's. Please get involved with the Humane Society and your local Shelter's. Please continue to call 20/20. Oprah, your Local news and anyone else who listens. Together we can all make changes and shut these people down for good. Please don't be too hard on yourself. You rescused a Puppy who would have been bread to Death or sold at Auction. You saved your puppy from a life of Hell. I think you are an Angel for doing it. God Bless you.... Marianne |

Thank God you saved your baby! I know she has a great home now. I pray these people not only lose their business, but go to jail! SICK! |
OMG! I just ordered a puppy from them. I'm supposed to be getting it this week? What should I do???? |

But, think about it, in a couple of posts I saw this; I "ordered" my puppy. You don't order a puppy like buying it from the Sears and Roebuck Catalogue. Not bashing you, just a lesson learned. We've all done this type of thing at one point or another. I bought one of my first yorkies "pet" from the flea market..... |
I paid through PayPal. Sorry for the wrong choice of words... --------------- I'm very confused now about this. She gave me a list of references I called, even her vet. I don't know what else to do. Do I just call her to cancel everything? OMG! I am at a loss!! |

I did go and look at their gurantee....They state they guarantee their pups for 6 months from the date of birth for congentital life threatening diseases. But, it doesn't state what they'll do if your puppy is diagnosed with such a problem......Several other red flags with this breeder......so sad....... Jenn I do hope you can straighten this out. And if you can, take your time. I understand that in Las Vegas there are few if any reputable breeders.....But, do take your time. Do alot of research on your breeder, ask for references. Make phone calls. Post on YT for any questions on a breeder that is unfamiliar to you. Remember you buy your breeder first, then your puppy. |
I just wrote an e-mail to Starmye and let PayPal know. |
