do you have a private area fixed up for her to have her babies? You should have a whelping box and she should be in it. just offering advice since you said this is your first time and it sounds like she is ready to start

Yes we do have a whelping box set up and she has been going in and out of it. Do you recommend we put her in there and keep her in there ?

and THANK YOU SO MUCH for the advice. This is our 1st time and anything anyone can offer is very helpful. I have done so much reading and looking things up online and you think your ready and as the time gets closer you get more nervous. The previous owner said she doesn't break the sac so we are prepared to do that as well.

If she is going in and out of the whelping box , let her do as she please . When the time comes , she'll know where to go .

Yes its quiet the box we have made for her. There is a door that comes down for a ramp so she can get in and out, but when she is in there we can also keep the door closed. The other 2 dogs are so curious about it, since we wont let them in there. We want her to know its her space not to be bothered. She was in there this morning scratching at the blankets and finally lifted them up and crawled underneath for awhile.

Today would be day 63 from the first locking! :eek:

It's off in the corner of our living room. We were trying to decide where to put it, everything I read said off in a quiet area of the house, well its just the two of us here usually so its generally quiet around here.

another little tid bit to add....make sure if she can get under anything, to close it off. under beds, couches, etc...... i always shut doors to other parts of the house and place pillows under my chairs and couches.

Her temp is still down around 99.5 and there is a TON of movement going on. You can feel the pups moving around and can see her sides moving with their movement. Is this normal and does this mean the time is finally here ?

Huge congratulations on your up & coming litter:)

I just went through all this a few days ago (1st litter ever as well) and I can totally understand how you feel, nervous, excited & on the edge of your seat waiting for every sign.. I was a complete wreck :rolleyes:

I noticed when my little girl was close to ready (a few hours before) her pups weren't moving much anymore at all. She went into her whelping box & started turning in circles, then digging like a little mad woman, then turning & digging... only relaxing for a minute or so every few minutes. Her temps fluctuated quite a bit between 99 & 100, but on the actual day it seemed to go down to 98.3-98.7 & stayed down there for about 8-10 hours prior.

I hope all goes well for you, and it sounds like your litle girl has some experience... so I'm sure she will do just fine. She will most likely be calmer than you are through it all, if your anything like me "lol"

Oh good, day 63. You'll start seeing some more action real soon, hopefully. I hate it when they are late, but with a 10 day span it could be a couple more days. Poor girl, I bet she's miserable right about now.

she is doing well, all she pretty much does is lay around. You can tell she is uncomfortable, she kinda lays on her belly but doesn't really relax. She pretty much supports herself with her front and back legs. There is not alot of movement today from the pups. She has been cleaning herself alot though. I just wish the day would get here. lol

She is doing well. just very very very sleepy. Thats all she is doing. There has been no new updates. Here temp this morning was 99.1, which is the lowest thus far. She has not been scratching or anything yet. Im on vacation this week so Im getting lots of things done around the house, but taking me much longer as I'm checking on her all the time. Fold a towel, check the dog. Let me tell you laundry takes much longer this way. But its all worth it. They are our family, and you do everything for family.

The waiting game is always the worst.

I hope all things go well. For our first delivery, I watched for contractions. When DC had contractions which held hard, I started timing them. She had contractions just like I had. Small ones to get her started and then hard ones that held for a minute or so. I started timing them at 15 min apart for an hour and then closer. At least you are getting something done around the house. With DC, she wanted to be close to me all the time. Once I was timing the contractions, I wanted to be close to her. Waiting is hard but once she gets started, you will forget all about the waiting. Good luck.
