Cant wait to hear how she does!! I love baby watch!! Dawn |
Hi guys :) Sorry about no updates lastnight but I decided to get a well overdue nights sleep since things didn't really seem to be moving along like they were the night before. Well I can only guess that were getting closer:icon5: Her temp dropped down to 98.7 by 6am this morning, and is now at 98.8 at 10am. Her tummy is back to getting hard & soft again & the only thing she will even touch in the way of food the last couple of days is her canned iams puppy food. She didn't even seem to be too interested in that today, but I think out of habbit (normally extremely excited for it) she did actually take a couple of bites. She's still sleeping tons & not letting me out of her sight for even a second. I also noticed each time her tummy hardens she has a soft little whimpering going on now. No panting yet though. I'll defiantely keep you all informed as we go  |
whelping When you say..hard and soft..do you mean she is having contractions where the stomach tightens and releases in a few seconds or so??? If so, how long has this been going on? I reread your post..I am concerned, she is wimpering when her belly hardens...I would see the vet now..she needs a check.. |
looks like it will be today!!!!! how exciting!!!! |
No, I actually mean hardening (tightening) for about 35-45 seconds or so. I felt the same thing the other night, but it stopped. It only just started up again. I'm not too woried about it just yet... it's just a very soft little whimpering she's doing, barely even audible at this point and more to get my attention than anything I think. She's seeming fine otherwise just sleeping tons. She got off me a few minutes ago to do some rolling around on the carpet to scratch her itchy belly, then wanted right back up. I think Lisa was right and it was a bit early the last time around. The vet figured it might have been caused by the babies turning themselves around, or possibly a faulse labour she was in the night before last. I have a vet apt. for 3:00 this afternoon as a precaution if I need it. Trust me... I'm a huge worry wart & pathetic when it comes to my little babies, so if I even think for a second there might be something wrong I will be at the vets office in a heart beat. |
Vanilla ice cream can help her contractions, hopefully she will deliver soon. I would try that and if she doesnt produce a pup soon get her to a vet. Good luck!! Vanilla Ice cream is awesome between puppies, as it gives them hydration, glucose for energy, and a calcium boost, will help the parathyroid gland to release a hormone from her bones, to help with muscles and pushing. |

I was hoping we would hear some " Most Excellent " puppy news.... I'll keep checking back  |
"lol" sorry guys, no puppies yet. We had our vet visit and she said everything is looking geat:thumbup: However she was also confused and said Lilly is just one of those strange ones. Her temp was at 98.7 when we arrived & her abdomen was definately contracting so she said we were getting really close. Then she did an internal & had a puzzled look on her face "no puppies in the canal?". Puppies heart beats are great, canal seems good, puppies both moving good... everything seems like it should be happening. She asked me how long this strange behavour and temp fluctuations have been going on for... and proceeded to take her temp again... now showing 99.3 only 20 miutes later. She then asked me to wait with Lilly for an hour in the waiting area to do one final check again before leaving. We did this & she was back up to 100.1 ? So yup... she's decided Lilly is just going to do this when she's darned good & ready. Puppies are in the lower area of her abdomen & looking as though they are in good positions... but not in the canal yet. It could be as early as tonight, or as late as another day or two :( She did say that it will most likely happen fast when it does happen though. |
She's just determined to keep you on pins and needles mom. Hang in there! |
2 Attachment(s) In the meantime... I tried my best to get pics of the x-rays for everyone. Unfortunately the didn't work out so well, but if you really look you can see one baby's spine quite visible along the lower part of her tummy line... the other puppy is in the exact same position right above the lower one. They look nearly identicle in position & size. Sorry about the glare on them... the vet was even holding the envelope for me to try and prevent that:rolleyes: |
