Advertisement just PI$$ED me off! I just have to share - have to vent. OMGosh! I was reading through the shopper becuase...well...I like to read through the shopper. I see an ad that reads "Yorkshire Terrier Stud for sale. 2 years old. Very aggressive and we have kids. Perfect for your breeding program $500". UM HELLO!?!?!?!?!? Are you DAFT!? No mention of papers, confirmation or anything else. Just that this poor dog is to aggressive for them to keep, he's STILL intact (and obviously should not be if he's THAT aggressive) but hey - backyard breeders! Here's a great deal for ya'! Your own poorly bred stud to add to your program at a discount rate! Grrr..... Angela <>< |
Why would anyone write such a silly thing. Who in their right mind would want an aggressive dog. I would think it's not aggression, but poor parenting. |
The Michael Vick's of the world are looking for just this short of add and also the people who think it is cool to use this type of dog as a home security system instead of buying one. They have kids:mad:   this upsets me no end when they get a breed that in it's background it has shown to be aggressive when there are over 150 breeds they could have chosen from.... |
Or poor breeding. You should SEE some of the so-called Yorkies in this area. *frown* It's really sad. But yeah - I kept reading the ad thinking "What am I missing here?" 1-You'd have to be dumb to put that in an ad anyway. Especially trying to sell him as a breeding dog if his temperment IS unstable. 2-You'd have to be dumb to ANSWER the ad! "Hi - I'm calling about your mean two year old dog. Sounds perfect for us!" *rolls eyes* Some people...... |

But - they KNOW what is right and what is wrong. We have a rescued beagle whom they may hold and hug. They may NOT hold Jasmine unless they are sitting down and with me - period. Those were the rules we established from day one and even my 15 month old abides by them. My children grew up with animals - our cat, several horses, always a dog or two depending on who needed help at the time *big grin*. But for my Yorkie I did a lot of research, talked with the breeder extensively about the parents and why she selected those particular dogs, etc. We also bought a puppy who could be easily socialized and the ONE time Jasmine growled at my son for something I told her "Momma dog" style that it wasn't acceptable and it's never happened since. BOTH my kiddos are learning the rules of what is right and what is wrong - my two legged and my four legged. :-) BUT - I'm also home with them most of the day or else my husband is so they get lots of attention. AND they don't have unlimited or unsupervised time together. AND we bought from good stock. Jasmine's mother was 1 lb over the acceptable limit but she was the sweetest and most lovable of the four bitches in her breeding program. So we wanted one of those puppies. :-) Like I said....I did my homework. I think having Yorkies and kids is a challenge - and has to be done properly. But it's doable. Blessings, Angela <>< ETA - I know some Yorkies tend to be "one person" dogs while others are "love everyone" dogs. Jasmine is a love everyone dog which is what our family needed. So that's what I waited over a year to procure for our family. :-) |
Hon, I wasn't referring to a YORKIE, I was referring to the ad which I'm sure was a lg. breed not saying which one used in "dog fighting" and these people had kids Geeez I do commend you for teaching your children the correct way to handle a small dog, it is so important. |
wow thats an awful |

So poorly bred yorkies are all over out here - one of the reasons it took me over a year to get my Jazzy! I've seen ads in the past selling stud dogs or offering to trade studs, etc. This is the first time I've ever seen anyone advertising an AGRESSIVE dog as a suitable stud. Yorkies aren't supposed to be AGGRESSIVE in terms of their behaviour towards humans - the way to ad was worded made it sound like this one was to the point of unmanageable and the old owners were just trying to offload him and get some money at the same time. Totally irresponsible imo. Crazy. Angela <>< |

Crazy. *shakes head* |
Please Everyone I hope you see my correction, I do not think our breed is an aggressive breed, I did not read the first post correctly. This is the email I got today and this is where my head has been since the Michael Vick thing. I could just die, "I WOULD NEVER THINK OUR YORKIES AGGRESSIVE' of course the one this guy has might me....jerk!!! Even Now, Amazon Defends Animal Fighting! Dear Joan, Amazon is the main distribution channel for these cockfighting magazines. Tell Amazon to stop fighting for animal fighting. In the wake of the high-profile indictment of Michael Vick, the nation has been awakened to the cruelty of animal fighting. Members of Congress, corporate leaders, and people like you are speaking out. And Louisiana and New Mexico enacted laws this year to outlaw cockfighting -- the last two states to join the fold. Online retailer Amazon is now in the lonely position of promoting animal fighting activities. It's the only online retailer of subscriptions to animal fighting magazines in the United States, and these magazines advertise the sale of fighting animals and cockfighting weapons -- sales made illegal by federal law! The Feathered Warrior even advertised fighting dogs from a dogfighter whose operation makes the enterprise described in the Michael Vick indictment look like a bunch of amateurs. This nonsense from Amazon must stop -- tell them so right now. Amazon sells subscriptions to cockfighting magazines like The Gamecock and The Feathered Warrior and claims the right to sell dogfighting videos. These materials are not only offensive because of the cruelty they glorify, but their shipment is also a federal felony under the recently-enacted Animal Fighting Prohibition Enforcement Act. Amazon claims that its commercial sale of these publications is protected by the First Amendment. But the First Amendment does not protect companies advertising illegal contraband, and that's exactly what the magazines sold by Amazon are doing. Dogs and chickens suffer grievous injuries or death in fights produced for depraved fun and shameful profit. Please ask Amazon right now to stop selling animal fighting magazines. And don't forget to tell your friends and family how they can help, too. Thank you for all you do for animals. Sincerely, Wayne Pacelle President & CEO The Humane Society of the United States |
