| required lentgh of tail when docked I am scheduled to tke my puppies in today to have their tails docked. Does anyone know how short the tail is suppose to be for a Yorkie. I was told that the tail should be 1/4" from the but to the end of the tail? Some say it should be 1/8", does anyone know the acurate length of tha tail for a yorkie in case anyone that buys a puppy might want to show him/her?? any comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I dont want them to cut it too short but I dont want them too long either. |

| Not 1/4 inch from the butt! 1/4 inch into the black. Under the tail it is tan colored then turns to black. Go 1/4 inch past the gold (tan) into the black.

| I usually go a 1/4 inch past the gold too but they seemed a little long still. I told the vet to go a little less this time. On my very first pup that was a singleton the vet did a 1/4 from the butt and now she has a nub instead of a tail. I wasnt a happy camper. Last edited by CO_yorkie_momma; 08-10-2007 at 12:29 PM. |
