Show puppy Pat gave you good sound advice. Show breeders want to make sure that if they trust you with a puppy you will follow through and show. Showing is very hard and very expensive. You should plan on spending on the average $3,000.00 finishing a dog to his/her Championship. That does not include purchasing the puppy. You will spend every weekend on the road and a lot of time learning how to train and show the puppy. Get to know some local show breeders. Pick one who has the type of dog you like- bug the heck out of them- learn about the breed- read all the books that have been written- learn the bloodlines past and present- go to dog shows- ask questions. Be willing to learn. Wnalegria |
Dear Show Prospect, The ear set seems to far apart and the pedigree is very weak in all generations. I just paid 2500.00 for a puppy with all dogs Champions in four generations except one. The 5 generation most dogs were champions. I was able to choose the nicest of 6 puppies and the seller was a 25 year experenced show breeder and exhibitor who is happy to help others get started. If you want any numbers to some nice breeders let me know i have meet 2 that dont require a long contract Good Luck :o) |
It's funny, I looked at the EvenStar page of CH.Rascal, and by looking at his puppy picture, you really didn't know how beautiful he was going to turn out. He didn't look any more special than a lot of our babies. That's why it's so hard to "see" the future in a puppy until they are a little older. Good luck in finding your little one... |

Hahaha yorkierose....too funny. I called a local breeder here in Illinois and she suggested the same thing...just make pest of yourself until they get to know you! I'm wondering though...how do I get a list of the shows near me? What publication are they printed in? And if they sell you a "pet quality" yorkie...does that mean he/she will not look like the standard of the breed? :animal-sm |
Pedigrees/Dog Shows You have some Checkmates in there too - from Canada. Nice line! :-) And on the other one - can't read all, but saw Dot's line in the back. Dot's is also a nice line. CH. Dot's Top Banana was beautiful. You can get on line with AKC to see when the shows are and can view all winners of each show. Pay attention to the breeder names. Here are some web sites:http://www.onofrio.com/index2.html http://www.infodog.com/showInfo/showCal.htm http://www.akc.org/events/search/index.cfm Have fun! Dog shows are very interesting and fun to watch. |
