| Runt Of Litter Wont Eat Anything, Getting Weak ! The runt of the litter will not eat ! I have tried the formula on my finger, with a nipple, a syringe, in a saucer. mommy has dried up and cant feed them anymore, They are 3 weeks old and the other puppies will take about a syringe of formula 4 times a day. but that is all they will eat. but the runt holds her mouth shut very tight , and when i do get the syringe in her mouth and give her formula, she spits it out. I am worried about her. the other puppies are gaining weight but she seems to be getting weak. I need some advice please !!!! Is she too young to give her some moist puppy food ? I was told dont give them anything but formula until after 4 weeks of age. she wont be 4 weeks till tuesday next week. I am very worried HELP!!!!!!!!!! My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | Do you have nutri-drops? They work amazingly. Try them and keep trying to syringe feed her. Also try a premie nipple on a bottle. Have you called your vet? He may suggest tubing her too. Mine are 3 wks old and just today the bigger one took a little taste of moms canned puppy food. Good luck and keep us posted!! |

| I'd give the vet a call. He/she would be the expert on this.

| I would also try some karo syrup. A couple of drops or see if he will ick it from your finger. They like the taste and it gives them a boost of energy and makes them want to eat more.

| Where can I get nutri drops ? Do I have to get them from the vet ? I have called him and I am waiting for a call back ? I will pick up karo syrup, gerber's rice cereal and the goat's milk. I will try anything. I am really worried about her. Is she too young to try to give her moist food ? |

| I'd talk to the vet... Sounds like they would probably know best.

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | I ordered Nutri-drops online but if you have some pet stores local, call them and see if they carry it. When I said "moms canned puppy food" I meant I'm feeding her canned puppy food right now to keep up her health and calcium while nursing the pups. So its just any canned puppy food. What does she do when you put a nipple in her mouth? |

| pup I do not think she is too young for soft foods...soupy, milk mixtures with baby food meats..I use baby food meats with tinies because it is just meat and water..bland and as a rule does not cause stomach upsets...mine will lick mushy foods from my finger... good luck |

| HOMEMADE MILK REPLACER This formula is the best, it will last 7-10 days in the refridgerator and the puppies thrive on it. We have raised several pups on this and highly recommend this formula ! 1 can evaporated milk 2 cups water 1 cup whole milk yogurt 1 tblsp white Karo syrup 1 tblsp mayonnaise 1-2 egg yolks. Mix well in blender, keep refridgerated. Moms love this formula also. got it from here: http://www.toyvillechis.com/id19.html best of luck to ya! |
