Well to make a long story short, he has a cleft palet SO bad the vet said that BIG IF I managed to get him to survive 3-5 more weeks with the tube feeding that his surgery would be very extensive and possibly not even be able to have any quality of life for him. He didnt have his tail docked.. I have been tube feeding him every 2 hours and he already has a raw little throat and a tiny bit of blood comes out on the tube. The vet said that its just because he is so small and that its painful to him. :cry8: So, at 4:00 today, less than 35 minutes, I am going to have him sent off to Rainbow bridge. I cant make him suffer. God love him he is such a fighter.:tinyheart I am down to ONE puppy and out a ton of money plus still owe half my stud fee. I cant watch this ever again so I am so done. I dont have the heart for these kinds of things.. Thanks for all the support and please dont say bad things to me about this as its been a hard enough decision on my own. Thanks again. :rip: Baby Cozmo... |

I am so sorry. I've just gone thru this very exact same thing two days ago! I know how you're feeling. |
I know this is very hard for you and I'm so sorry but I wanted to tell you that I had a pup born last July with a cleft and I bottled and syringe fed her and she is a living spit fire today. I kept her and she still has her handi cap but we make it work. They say when they get their adult teeth the cleft can close a little. My little one, her cleft is in her soft pallet. You can still seee it to this day and it didn't close up any. We didn't have surgery. It was alot of ups and down, but if your up to it, they can make it and I'll offer all my help to you that I can. Sending my prayers to you. |
I am so sorry.... I know how stressful, sad, and exhausting it is... my thoughts and prayers for you and that little baby. |
I'm sorry to hear about the puppy, but I think you did the right thing. Sometimes you have to love them enough to let them go and this was one of those times. |
Oh I am so sorry ............... |
so sorry So sorry for your loss, I am sure you didn't want him to suffer any more.. god bless your baby. Debbie |
So many times cleft palate babies don't make it. I'm sure it was the hardest decision, but it really was an act of kindness to him. So sorry for your loss...... |
