Thank you to everyone for all your kind words, thoughts and prayers. It helps to know that there are people out there that understand. I can't help but feel guilty for being responsible for bringing this creature into the world in pain.

Does anyone know if this is something that will surely happen again if I breed the same mom and dad?

I would be concerned that the problem could be genetic and would not breed those parents again.

I've had no exp. with cleft puppies, maybe there are other breeders that have.... I believe Breny had a cleft baby that survived.

After reading this article, there are many reasons that cleft palates to form, and some that has nothing to do with who or with whom you are breeding. Very interesting that the chemicals that are put on our lawns can cause it..makes me wonder if the company knows this!!!

We do have a lawn service that comes frequently. If it is doing this to the animals, wonder what it is doing to humans.
