Wouldn't it be wild if someone here actually adopted a Yorkie from Otis's litter?

Does anyone here know their Yorkie's parents' names?

I adopted Otis from a breeder named Linda Bush, and Otis's mom and dad were show dogs. Otis's dad (sire) was Snap E. Tom, and his mom (dam) was Martha Stewart.

Hahahah... Cute names, I only recall Yoda's daddy's name right now. Snickers Bartholomew. I thought the name Snickers was a hoot. We got him from a GREAT breeder in Everett, WA. I really need to remember their names. The whole family takes part (mom/dad/4-5 kids) and each child has one Yorkie that they take care of on their own. Then they help during the litter process as well. It was great that you could see they loved their Yorkies and that they weren't just around to make a buck. All their Yorkies were AKC registered and Yoda's lineage (probably grandparents) were show dogs as well.

We lucked out and found their name from the Seattle Times newspaper ad. Before our little research, we almost got a Yorkie from some pet store.

Junebug, do you know if you can find out a Yorkie's lineage online? Or perhaps from writing in to the AKC? I never looked into it or anything, I was just curious. :)

I don't know about that. I have Otis's lineage, though....kinda like a family tree, but I can't find it!! It's filed away somewhere.

Did you pick Yoda out from a litter?

I think Otis had a brother and a sister, but they were both bought by someone else. I am so lucky I ended up with him. He fits my lifestyle perfectly.

Yup, Yoda had at least 3 or 4 brothers and 1 sister. We were originally going to get a girl Yorkie, but then we talked to the breeder about the differences and then we looked around, and we chose the smallest runt (Yoda!). :P

I think any Yorkie adapts to their surroundings, as I swear Yoda is just like his Mommy. He was only supposed to be 4 and a half pounds, but uhh, we spoiled him too much the first year. We just didn't know any better and couldn't resist his charms!

Otis is nothing like me. He burps a lot and takes naps all day.

I hear Yoda sneeze, but he doesn't really burp that much, well maybe after he eats a bone. What causes Otis to burp?

I don't know what causes him to burp...he's been doing it since he was a puppy! And he burps with his mouth open, so it sounds like a big man's burp! No kidding!

Hmmm... I guess I'll go take a nap now.

This site has some of Toto's relatives on it! They raise Chinese Crested, also. It's really interesting .... I didn't know that one of the Crested breed had hair other than on the head, feet and tail!! The hairless is really warm to the touch and feel like velvet. When I'm really busy [and am brushing Toto] I sometimes wish she were a Crested!! ;) NOT!!! If you have time to look at the site ... some of the Yorkie champions are Toto's relatives ... i.e., "Wilderness Girl" is her Grandmother! :)

That is pretty neat bettyeanne! I think one of the coolest things about Yorkies is that they don't shed and that their hair is like our human hair! Of course, they do tend to get cold a little faster...

They DO get cold faster ... and when we first got Toto we also were so well instructed by breeder and vet that I was an absolute wreck!! :rolleyes: I worried that she would get cold .... would get sick .... wouldn't eat ... would eat too much ... wouldn't have the correct balance in her diet, etc., etc.!! We are much more relaxed with her now! She lets us know if she is chilly, lets us know if she is hungry [although we do keep her on a pretty strict schedule]. It has been a pretty amazing journey so far ... watching her mature from a 16 week old furball to a 9 month "little lady"!! ;) She is an absolute joy!! :p

Aww, still a baby! A heat blanket is great, just make sure they don't chew on the cords! Yoda always has his available to him when we are gone. He will lay on it for half an hour, then get too hot, then go off it, then come back when he's cold again.

I couldn't agree more about this. When I was growing up, our family had a 75lb German Shepherd who I absolutely loved. But, one of the drawbacks was that our entire house was covered with silver/black hair which she was constantly shedding. The hair was on EVERYTHING, and raised a lot of problems.

Growing up, I was naively under the impression that toy poodles were basically your only option if you wanted a dog that didn't shed. It's great to know that Yorkies don't shed, and not enough can be said for not having a loose hair on everything I own. It's a godsend!!

I shed more than Yoda. In the past two years, I think I've maybe found his hair around the house like 3 times total. :P

i wanna get another yorkie....can soemoen help?

im new to this site. i have been readint eh forums for a week but this is my first post.
i want to get another yorkie but its been hard lately to find another yorkie for a good price. I was wondering where you guys got your puppies and how much you guys paid for them.
Im going ot post my babys pic up soon. I think she is a cutie pie...i miss her now that im talking about her (im at work)

I'm sure there's plenty of breeders in California, but with that comes a higher price, perhaps. You could look at breeders out of state. I've seen them for $500 on the low end to around $1500 for the high end. I found a breeder I trust, and they charge from $800 to $1000 last time I inquired. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the info. I been looking and the price is crazy. I bought my puppy for 1000 but i think she was evry penny of it. She has the most beautiful face in the world.
Now im trying to find her a friend but its so hard. Not sure how she would react with another Yorkie also.

You could always try to see if the person or breeder you originally got your puppy from has more... :)

It is hard to say if your puppy will be happy with another Yorkie around, or if it wants to be the only one. :P

We have always heard that if you get one Yorkie ... you will get another. We made a totally informed decision before we bought Toto. We would like for her to have playmates because they need to socialize with other dogs but we don't want another of our own! We love this little one more than anything and focus all our attention on her ... she is so spoiled! We just don't want to have to share the attention and we don't think she would want us to! :p We know people who have more than one pet and are able to show attention to each one equally but since we know ourselves so well, we know we would find it difficult to do that! Toto is our joy!! ;)

We love our 2 girls, they are actually biological sisters just 2 yrs apart. The older one plays mother to her sister. They are both 5 lbs now. You can see their picture in form " Lacey & Lindsey". They are always together, eat from a double sided food dish, and never had a fight. Lindsey was only 8 oz when we picked her up from the breeder, she had problems the first week with hypoglycemia, hypothermia and an upper respitory infection. Had to stay in an emergency hosp. for the first week. We only had her 4 hrs and all hell broke loose. Our vet put meds in her juggler vein as her other veins were too tiny. She made it thru the night and the week, what a fighter. When she came home from the hosp. I fed her a teas. of Baby Turkey food every 3 hrs. The breeder gave me the option to bring her back to her but the vet was closer and we didn't want her to die on a trip back to the breeder. The breeder did not charge us for her, we had that vet & hosp. bill to pay. I should of called the Atty General of NH on her but I was too busy caring for my baby. Lacey, her older sister really helped me to nurture her back to health. The "tiny" ones can have problems and I wouldn't wish what I had to go thru on anyone. But my husband and I agreed she would of died if we brought her back to the breeders, it was a timely matter.
Today they are 6 yrs old and 4 yrs old and still the best of sisters. They are our pride and joy babies !

Lacey & Lindsey have their own " FAMILY TREE " from AKC, its quite interesting to see all the names down the generations, from their parents to the other branches. We don't know that much from our own human family tree. :)

I would get it from the same breeder that i got nami from but my dumba$$ lost the number. im so mad for that :(

But yeah i was thinking that my yorkie wont like any other dogs but when i take her to my future mother in law she loves playing withthe maltese. I was also thinking about getting a maltese but i love my yorkie and i keep thinking how cute itll be to have 2 yorkies and looking at me while i eat or sleep...lol

I live in LA so if you guys know any good breeders let me know.

By the way does your does get quite when they have clothes on? My yorkie is pretty happy and hyper dog but when i put her clothes on she just sits on the couch....kinda funny but sad at the same time

How did you get this AKC Family Tree? I'm sure Yoda has one too since we have all the AKC papers and whatnot...

Yes! Yoda HATES certain clothes, usually the tight outfits or things he doesn't think are pretty. :P

It took him a while to get used to clothes, but now he troops around everywhere with all kinds of shirts and sweaters on.

We got her few clothes and it seems like she is too small for it....her legs keeps coming off and she gets stuck and helpless

Yup, that was Yoda sleeping. Probably when he was just a year old. :)

:eek: GOOD FOR YOU!!!! I would have been mortified if my baby had gotten sick!! We made 3 trips to the vet the week we got Toto ... there was really nothing wrong with her but we were so scared of her that we thought there was! You did exactly what we did ... took her to the vet! It took us months to get over that fear of this little one! :p It does no good for the breeder to say bring them back .... for Heaven's sake, they are not a pair of socks that you just exchange ...we were attached to Toto before we got out of the parking lot!!! I am so glad that everything worked out for your baby!! They are gorgeous!!! ;)

Fasteddy-- I am new here but was curious about the name of your breeder if it ever comes to mind. I breed (Well Kinda)LOL in Forks wash. I have only a litter about every 2 years. I have people come to me looking for puppies but I usually don't have any and I don't expect them to wait 2 years for a puppy. I would like to know more about them and maybe talk with them and refer some people that are interested in a puppy to them. I dont know many good breeders here personally and the ones I do know are steep and asking 1500 and up. I just dont want to refer them to a bad breeder.

If you know the dogs registered name, or the registeration number you can get a pedigree online from AKC. It will be a 3 generation one, and I believe the cost is 8.00, but not sure about that.
