Having Her Pups Today?? Hi, I've watched your breeder talk forever..especially those on puppy watch. And now it may be Tea's time for babies, her first time. She is on day 60. Went to the vet on again last Tuesday to maybe get a head count..but they don't routinely do x-rays but by palpatation thought may three to four or more, lots of feet, butts, but sketchy on the exact number. So, here we are, since about four days ago, doing temps..first only at evening, now twice a day..and yesterday morning, dropped to 99.6, last night to 99.3. She had to go out to poop/pee every two hours (I made sure I followed with a flash light. She refused to eat anything, and now has diarrhea and has starting throwing up (the bile thing). She had some intense contractions a few minutes ago and is nesting, digging. Is staring at me as I type, etc... |
Good luck with the puppies!!!! Can't wait for pictures of your new babies. |
Sounds like your on your way. Mine usually clear their stomachs as they go into stage 2 labor. Watch for contractions. Do you have nutrical or esbilac on hand? Get some tums in case calcium is needed for contractions. If she's not slept well or eaten in the last 24 hrs. having these things on hand can save you from a c-section. Let me know how it's going and good luck on your whelping. |
two so far |
Wow they are coming fast!! Good for you. Keep up the good work mom. |
2 so far she had the first two fast..now it's been about an hour and i can still feel another pup or two inside her .. no placentas out yet and that has me worried.. the vet had me give her caullophylum for contractions but i am waiting for more good contractions. her first two have latched on and have had a bit of milk so...waiting, waiting... |
3 is the count now ok, three now...last one was a boy who was breech. 5.2 oz...bigggggg. i can still feel another pup wiggling in there. called the local vet emergency just in case because no placentas so far, they said just wait if she is not in distress as they could just come out later. hope the next one is smaller like the first two. ok..head count, boy, girl, boy:) |
Congratulations.... sounds like things are progressing well.... Hope ALL comes out OK!! ;) |
4, oh my We've got four now. Writing between puppies is a great distraction:) Last one was a girl, 3.5oz. I can still feel another puppy moving inside..so I don't think she is done.... |
How exciting! Sounds like things are going well. Can't wait to see pictures! Congratulations! Hope the remaining pup/pups are easy for her. |
this is sure tiring... thank you for all the congrats!:) It has been 2.5 hrs. since the fourth pup, not sure if there is another one in there, but concerned because she has a very green discharge.. the vet just called, said the discharge is normal, could be I feel just all those placentas inside her and the uterus itself so since mom & pups are all just resting (thank god everything came out well!).to leave everything as is and wait for the placentas. If nothing by morning, to call them again. whew..i have to give credit to all those puppy mother's (speaking humans) who have gone before me..this is a lot of work..and incredibly wonderful and humbling. will post pics soon! debbie |
ok..is this it? Spoke with the vet as she hadn't had a another pup in 3 hrs., he said the bump was probably her uterus...and when I hung up the phone, just to be a smarty pants...lil Tea' had herself another pup!! 5 now. two girls, three boys. I still feel a big mass, maybe that's just her uterus.. lol I'll keep everyone updated!! PS..again, thank you for the well wishes and congrats! Debbie |
What an exciting morning , Congratulations!! |
Congrats! I insist on x-rays when we are about a week from due date, not only does it let you know when they are done, but we can measure skull sizes vs. pelvic capacity to avoid surprises. I also usually clamp behind the sac right after the pup is delivered to hold onto the placenta if it doesn't deliver right behind the pup. It's unusual for her to have delivered so many without passing the placentas.....are you sure you didn't miss them? |
Congratulations! I do that same as Sylvan does. Most of the time they pass one placenta before they have another puppy, maybe she ate them. Sounds like everything went well. |
