Both These Breeders Are Very Bad!!

and this is a REALLY BAD ONE - http://www.yorkiecity.com BRUSHY as (Shady) Creek Kennels - Check BBB On this they are in HOCKLEY TX.

This woman had a dirty, sick puppy (with the most awful bite) - poor thing probably couldn't eat...and tried to sell her for almost $1000.00 plus many, many, dogs barking outdoors in the back that we were never allowed to see. Actually - we never made it through the front office! She was a very nasty woman when we called her out on the mis-representation of her dogs. (After driving a long way to see them)

Llovers Yorkies has her dogs kept outside - shaved down all the time - breedes the same dogs over and over. Also - she will refer people to another lady - Sandra and these 2 have a scam going...(I've checked cause that's where we got our 1st Yorkie) and she also mis-represents her dogs.

I recently purchased two tiny sisters from a breeder in Ohio. Her name is Terri Wylie and the web site is http://www.fairviewyorkies.com. The girls were flown counter to counter from Akron to San Francisco and arrived healthy and adorable. They were vet checked; up on all their shots including rabies because we live in California and Terri provides a one-year health guarantee. The sisters are also AKC registered. All of this is standard from a reputable breeder. However, what was most impressive for me was the communication I had with her prior and after I bought the pups. She always answered any e-mail from me promptly. And whenever I phoned with a question she returned my call within a few hours. Yes, she does breed wee ones, my girls Martini and Sunshine are both under 3 pounds at 8 months. But she is a conscientious breeder who spoke to me over an hour about the health and safety of tiny yorkies...and this was a return call to me, on her nickel. Truly the very best way to find a reputable breeder is word of mouth. I would recommend Fairview Yorkies and Terri Wylie. I am going to post the girls pictures soon...they are so cute and what personalities!!
One last piece of advice if you do decide to buy a puppy on the Internet and cannot find anyone who can give a testimonial, "Goggle" the breeder and the web site. I did this with numerous web sites and the bad sure does surface to the top quickly....
Once you are satisfied with the breeder pay with "Paypal" if at all possible. This way if something does goes wrong you have a good chance of getting your money back. There is something now called "Puppy Escrow" which places your payment in an escrow account. I haven't used it but it seems like a great way to make sure that both the breeder and the buyer won't be scammed. E-mail me anytime to find out more about my experiences. I spent a number of months researching and would be happy to let you know the good, the bad and the ugly...

Wow...just goes to show...you can't tell the good breeders by their marketing strategies. I went to the website and they sound professional! 30 years experience...blah..blah...blah.. I guess the best way to find what we're looking for is to go to the shows and talk with the consistent breeders and exhibitors and get a better feel. Which poses the second question...where are the local dog shows for different areas of the country posted? One good thing though...at least you know when you see something physically wrong with the pup! I'd probably take a look at him and say "oh cute...see how his tongue sticks out! :aimeeyork

We got our pups from www.yorkiepup.com they are near Paris TX. Jeff Dane is a great guy. He raises yorkies full time for about the past 20 years. He has about 100 of his own that run around on his property, protected by these big dogs (i forgot what they were called), they are on camera in his office. His kennels are nice, clean. His children help with care, and do a little breeding of their own. He has a great website with a lot of helpful advice about yorkies. He stays up with each mom when her temp goes up to make sure everything goes good. I love to go back and look at his website and remember when we were there. His pups are reasonably priced and very good quality. We saw his wife's little 1.5# dog pictured on the website. He was offered $25,000 for him and turned it down - it was his wife's dog. They are also well able to care for such a small dog. Did I say I thought he was great!

Call me crazy...and I know I'm really new at all this puppy breeding stuff...but if he has a hundred dogs of his own....who in the heck is taking care of the rest of them? It sounds like a puppy mill ...of course, I've never been there, so I could be wrong...but geesh...I don't know...I think I'd rather go with a small professional breeder...one that was raised in the home and socialized...I mean...how do you give the kind of one on one attention a puppy needs to be a great companion? (Scratching head on this one...shrug) :

Does anyone remember a little while back posting a female pup he had on his site for $10,000? I couldn't find it the other day when I was searching.

Laura - I'm REALLY glad you had a good experience - but Jeff Dane is bad news on the net. He's well known for being a big broker who is SO into money & selling tiny tiny puppies & has a trail of unhappy customers in his wake.....You're very lucky for your experience

I had to go back and read that thread. I am surprised that you guys let a person bully you that way - it's not like you. I would be interested in seeing anything 'true' about him. I have never seen anything bad about him first hand.

I mean this in the nicest way, you guys.

I have been there. This is a family in a lovely house. They love these dogs. I know he has a lot of them, but you should go there. You would be surprised. He has one hired guy there. They take care of all these dogs and love them ALL. They all have names and are pets! They are not the ones he breeds (the ones running all around). He usually doesn't sell the very expensive ones through his website.

I think the 10,000 dog referred to was also his wife's new puppy that they were showing off. It was a tiny one of hers.

I find the reference in the other thread just a slam, and I don't believe it. His daughter raises them and she only has one litter at a time. She is about 16 years old.

But, as usual - I would be interested in seeing ANYTHING that was a first hand experience that was bad. I would discontinue my loving support of Jeff and his family - out loud.

Hi Laura ...I totally understand your feeling and I'm VERY glad you had a good experience with him...

From a personal standpoint - I got on to read everything I could about yorkies when we got Chanel 3 years ago. I joined forums and read many not good things about this particular breeder - this was from people who did deal with him - I DO understand breeders can have a rep from bad posted experiences but it's been almost 3 years and he still has many negative comments from customers - as well as positive - which, as in your case, is good to hear.

I guess it's just like in life - some people get lucky - and some don't....but he DOES breed super Tinies and does ship them also...not to mention the price of many of the dogs he advertises.....some of his prices are Unreal

And as far as personal experience with someone that he has scammed... Yes I do know someone that paid TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS for their dog and IT DIED!

If it's the same tiny - that poor baby died and he is suing his vet over it.

I remember checking out his site when looking for Chanel and MANY people emailed me warning me about possible scams etc....I just stayed away and have never been there - but feel very glad people took the time to speak up - and yes...this WAS 3 years ago.....It would have been very easy for me to make that trip to Paris TX - but I never looked back after hearing what people said that had dealt with him back then. I can only hope his business practices are better now.

No, I think the one you mean was Little Joe. He was the smallest in the world or something at the time, I think. He died a couple of years ago, and I think was dropped by a customer who was holding him. It is one thing he warns carefully regarding Yorkies - I think I remember - falling is #1 cause of death. Maybe falling out of cars with the doors open. I don't know if a lawsuit was involved.

My memory is not that great, and it has been over a year since I have dealt with him. I am doing google searches, and I still get mostly odd stories, but I will continue to look. If you have seen one, I would love to see it.

I have emailed this link to the person that dealth with him... Hoping she will post her experience. The puppy I am referring to was NOT dropped.

I think this thread is a good idea. Perhaps then, these breeders at least won't be able to sell their puppies on YT.

We paid $750 each for our pups. At 20 months old, they are 5# and 7-8# ea. They are not just healthy, they are loving happy pups. Zowie was a PERFECT mother. She loves people to come over to see her pups. She gets so excited and smiles and runs to the puppies. Everyone can sit down and play with the pups and she just dances around talking and smiling. I am reading through all these threads, it is interesting.

Laura - this was about 8 months ago - a little female who died under anesthesia - He had a huge banner about how he's suing his vet and slammed the vet all over the website - She was having a few teeth removed and died due to her size - she was VERY VERY tiny - going for 10 grand - She had already been sold believe it or not and you KNOW he was upset to be returning THAT money ....

That is too much money ten thousand dollars for a tiny, poor baby, I have never heard of him before but that many dogs in kennels sounds like a mill no matter if they all have names and a hired hand to help they would have to have help keeping all the kennels clean and feedings and grooming, I feel yorkies should be house raised.
I bought my male from a breeder in Iowa was a beautiful baby gave him his shots and died a week later from the bordetella shot he was the 5th case in minnesota we had him 3 weeks ,called my breeder to let them know what happend and they replaced him they did not have too but did so as they felt I gave them a really good home. My other two were bought from another breeder here in minnesota I have not had any problems thank goodness.
