I too would of loved to of heard more about this. with it being so rare and all. Its ashame this happened. I know the org poster is now done with this thread. But wanted to say I hope you post pictures and up dates on your babys from time to time. Id love to hear all about them as they grow. |
WOW. What a thread! From the first post, things sounded "off"....and as someone said, every subsequent attempt by the OP to defend and explain just got weirder and weirder. I totally agree that there can be an attitude of superiority and judgment here when it comes to breeding. But some things are just COMMON SENSE, and this entire case just raised red flag after red flag. I don't blame anyone for wanting to question or address that!!! I like that YT isn't a place where people get their hands held and their heads patted, no matter what. Yes, sometimes opinions could get expressed in a nicer way. But ultimately, this place is about EDUCATION...not warm fuzzies. Breeding is a huge responsibility, both to the litttle furry lives they bring into the world, and to the customers who hand over their wallets and their hearts and their TRUST. I absolutely think that anyone who takes all that on should not be held ABOVE accountability. And I always think about allllllll the people (who we forget about) who aren't even members of this board, but are just out there reading. Or who just happen by here one night looking specifically for a breeder to purchase a pup from. Or who maybe stumble on one thread through a google search or something. This could be the only thread that person ever reads at YT. This could be the only time that person EVER hears some of the basic standards of responsible breeding that are just taken for granted by most of us now. And before that person gets intrigued by an interesting story, or lured by cute puppy pics, and *clicks* on that breeder's website, possibly never to return here....I think that YT has the great opportunity, if not the responsibility, to point out any red flags that they notice first. It's our opportunity to make a difference!!! And I know that YT made a difference in MY yorkie buying experience in this way, and for that, I am thankful. It's definitely something I would hate to see us lose, in the name of "support" or "positivity" or "relationships". |

There's no reason for anyone to be rude but there should be help and advise offered and yes - even constructive critisism IF warranted. Not for the sake of being mean but for the sake of educating ...I've learned so much reading the breeding threads. I'm not a breeder but have learned alot about good vs bad breeding practices here. |
i know im posting off topic as well and it is prolly really annoying, but i just thought id add that I dont think its fair to bash someone for their views. The breeders here on yt seem to think that because their is some what of a majority collective decision it has to be enforced on everyone. I think that breeding weight depends on the dog. Some smaller dogs prolly have no problem breeding. And if the original poster isnt having any problems then congrats to her. And not only that but you cant deny that their is a lot of people wanting the tiny yorkies or other such dogs. And i dont see why tea-cup should be treated as a cus word arround here. It is a term for the smaller dogs and if they indeed need more care then their should be some term for these puppies so people know that they need more care. I understand that people say these tiny dogs have more health problems and some of them may i dont know mine who would be considered a tiny doesnt have any and that is all i can speak for. Im sure if they are sicker then she would be having problems with her breeding system and apparently shes not so let her be. |
I just had a litter of pups and had read your post and asked my vet what his thought were on it. He has had a cocker spaniel have a litter of 4 and 5 days later another pup was born, and he has seen it in cats also which is more common he said, so it is not impossible but strange that it can happen and that labor does not expel all the uterus contents.Makes me wonder do they stay dialated or does it all start up again to deliver the last one days later? |
[QUOTE=Ladyhawk;1090709]I My vet says that a 6 yr. old bitch is like a 44 yr. old woman. That would make an 8 yr. old in her late 50's wouldn't it? Most bitches are retired after 6 for a reason. Do you think that her age may have anything to do with this unusual birth? HEYYYYYYYYYYY I suddenly feel insulted and OLD from that comment:lol tears |

My Mother had a Chihuahua that was bred 2 times before and then during her third pregnancy she had 2 pups and then 6 days later she had 4 more! She was bred to the same male for only 2 days and only tied with the male 3 times. once the first day and then twice the second! So yes it is possable and I'd like to say that all the pups lived and are very happy healthy adults now! |
This is indeed an interesting thread... although the 'off topic comments were not necessary. IN MY OPINION, some people have waaay too much time on their hands, finding every error on the breeders web site & the comment regarding the misspelling was beyond absurd. That's just crazy. :thumbdown Although I don't agree with most of the breeders practices, every breeder is entitled to their own opinion & practices. This breeder had one intention when she decided to reach out to YT, she was just simply in search for answers for what is indeed a "miracle". I'm fairly new to YT but I'm getting bad vibes already. I know I'll be extremely wary when I start posting threads & seeking advice from other breeders here on YT... careful not to write anything that others will find offensive. :eyebrow2: |
